Pounding rain and wind woke me up out of a dead sleep around 2am. Then it died down. Now it is just really windy.

What is the difference between “warning” and “advisory?”  When I clicked on the link it only showed “warning.”

That’s because (see last line) it was raised this morning to a warning. Advisory means, this is probably going to happen and it’ll be kind of serious – warning means, they believe it’s imminent. It was “only” an advisory from the time we published this story last night until the alert level was raised just before 8 am.
