UPDATE: Police recover stolen car, arrest 2 in Fairmount Ravine area

(Added: Photo from Andrew, as shared in comments)

8:16 AM: Police have taken two people into custody after following a stolen car westbound over the bridge and into the Fairmount Ravine area. More information as we get it.

8:52 AM: The area where this all ended is a narrow hillside dead-end over the ravine and we can’t get there; the car will be towed and impounded. We still hope to obtain and add follow-up information later.

9:09 AM: Just talked with Det. Patrick Michaud in the SPD media office. He confirms that what we’ve reported above is what this came down to – a stolen car was spotted in the South Precinct, police followed it as the driver continued over the bridge, into the Admiral area, then into the dead-end hillside area over Fairmount Ravine, and took two into custody (on Brook SW). The car is a silver Honda Civic.

That’s a good looking Land Cruiser.  That car gets better looking the older the model is.  Each year Toyota seems to make it uglier……..

Thank you WSB I had seen several police cruisers with lights flashing cruising the area.  And once again simply checking the blog provides the answer as to what is going on.

So I watched this entire event go down this morning off of my back deck. There were a lot of state police vehicles. I counted six at one point, every one of the officers had their guns drawn. Seems like a lot just for a stolen vehicle. This isn’t the best video as I was more concerned with keeping my eye on the perpetrators in case they drew a gun and I could get the hell out of there. Needless to say I did not need my coffee after this. It was pretty tense the first five minutes when there was just one single officer waiting for backup. The gun was shaking as I’m sure he had a lot of adrenaline racing through his bloodstream.

A stolen vehicle pullover is always a guns-drawn stop because vehicle theft is a felony – same if a vehicle is pulled over in any other kind of felony case. And lots of backup, at least initially. You mention video – there’s nothing attached to the comment (I’m not sure if our plug-in allows video unless it’s a URL for someplace where you’ve already uploaded it such as YouTube or Vimeo) but if you have an image of any kind, I would appreciate being able to add it to the story – while trying to get to the scene, we looked it up on Google Maps and realized there was absolutely no way we were going to make it into that dead end – editor@westseattleblog.com if there’s anything you can send – glad you are OK! – TR

Not sure why you are not seeing the video. It appears in uploaded just fine as I can see it here in the comments. Here is another very average picture.

Sorry, comment time is over.
