BIZNOTES: Be’s Restaurant break; MOD Pizza update

Two quick biznotes about restaurants current and future:

BE’S: Thanks to the texter who sent a photo of the sign in the window of Be’s Restaurant (4509 California SW) in The Junction, saying they’re “on vacation” and expecting to reopen Monday (November 20th).

MOD PIZZA: Apparently the future pizza place at The Whittaker (4755 Fauntleroy Way SW; WSB sponsor) has moved up its timetable. When last we checked on their plans for opening, MOD said it had been delayed until next June. In a Twitter conversation this week, that changed to February.

Speaking of restaurants … our list of the ones that told us they’ll be open Thanksgiving is here (and linked in the WSB West Seattle Holiday Guide, too) – any additions/changes, let us know, editor@westseattleblog.com – thanks!

Another pizza parlor in West Seattle?

Raywest,I checked this when there were no comments….a few hours later? You did not disappoint ;-)

And from what I’ve been told, it’s damned good pizza, too

I like it.  It’s nice that the pricing is consistent even when you start throwing on less typical ingredients.  I don’t prefer thin crust, but there’s nowhere in West Seattle doing Chicago-style deep dish that I know of so I’ll eat whatever can be delivered to my house.

Speaking of different pizza styles, there are so many different ways to do pizza… MOD is a different pie than Peel & Press, which is different than Talarico’s, which is different than Zeeks, and so on.  I don’t understand why people act like every new pizza place is a branch of the same pizza chain.  No one is ever like “OMG, another American/comfort food place” even though there are a million of those too.

With so many pizza joints in W.Seattle, we should have a blind  pizza taste contest …a pizza eating contest and the $$$$ goes to the Food Bank.

GXNS I love it!  Organize it and we will go!

Looks like Be’s is closed — at least for remodeling? What’s going on? Its the 20th and they don’t look open.

Seriously, the pizza taste test is a fantastic idea and  a great way to help the Food Bank. Charge maybe $10, and get as many West Seattle pizzerias as possible to participate. We just need someone to sponsor/present it.

Jans–And I will not disappoint you in the future because whenever another pizza place (or Thai restaurant) opens in West Seattle, I will express my disappointment at the lack of culinary diversity that flourishes here.

Sorry, comment time is over.
