BIZNOTE: Yes, fish-and-chips fans, Alki Spud has just reopened

We just stopped in to verify that this really is Reopening Day at Alki Spud Fish and Chips. What was expected to be a month-long maintenance/repair closure stretched to a month and a half, but today the refreshed restaurant with 82 years of history is back open for business at 2666 Alki SW. Some remodeling upstairs too:

Oh, good. I was worried about the lack of sub-par, overpriced fish and chips.

I got excited by the first part of the headline–I love fish and chips!–but really? Spud? Hard pass.

RF, how about you save your sarcasm and just choose not to support them? Your sarcastic negative comment contributes nothing to the story.

Did they get rid of the old pictures of houses and stores that were on Alki?

Our photographer didn’t notice whether they were or weren’t – he stopped at Spud at my request while out doing a sheaf of other things – so someone please go and let us know!

I just walked by, and they were completely packed. That’s nice to see on Alki in winter.

Good to see this one invested in, since greenlake spud getting torn down for mixed use rebuild.

Different companies, for what it’s worth … this one is owned by Ivar’s.

The one in Green Lake will open again when the new apartment building that is replacing Spuds is done. Their menu is a little different than the Alki one, and the chowder tastes completely different. Not bad, just different.

I hope their fish isn’t as overpriced as it used to be.

I see that “The Special” went up another dollar. It’s now over $15.00, lame.

WOW what a bunch of negativity… tis the season to be jolly!

What’s that old saying…if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all.

we keep voting for higher property taxes and wages, can’t blame them for charging us more

I’m happy to see them open again… I got to agree with AR though, we keep electing people that look for any way to demand more of our money instead of returning it through efficacy and resourcefulness and than complain when cost goes up to cover it. PRICLESS….

Yes! so glad to see them reopen. The renovations look nice! I’ll be in soon for my regular yummy cod and fries meal.

I love Spuds and plan on going there tonight.  Where else can you get a great view of Puget Sound and a big order of great fish and chips for $15.

Sorry, comment time is over.
