FROM THE LOST/FOUND PETS PAGE: WSB readers help bring Poppy the cat home after 3+ weeks

If you don’t check in on the WSB Lost/Found Pets page, you might have missed this news, so we’re mentioning it here too: Poppy the Siamese cat is home. More than three weeks after disappearing from Pigeon Point – we posted owner Teresa‘s notice on September 17th – he turned up near the “low bridge” yesterday morning. In the comment section of Poppy’s post, bicyclist Alan explained that he had seen another rider looking for a Siamese cat who had run across the bike path and hidden in the bushes. Alan told the other rider about Poppy. That rider, John, contacted Poppy‘s people (Alan had called too); Teresa later posted, “I was able to go to the exact location you described and find him. … He has lost quite a bit of weight but seems to be in pretty good shape other than that.” As another comment pointed out, Poppy’s people had gone to great lengths to have the entire peninsula on the lookout for him.

We are glad the WSB Lost/Found Pets page – the only West Seattle-wide lost/found pets page, with hundreds of reunions since 2008 thanks to caring readers – could help; e-mail info/photo/contact # to editor@westseattleblog.com if you are looking for/have found a pet.

Great news!  I saw lots of signs for Poppy all over West Seattle, and I’m SO GLAD the family has been reunited.  Those signs!  They showed so much love.  My heart was broken for the family.  Now stay close to home, Poppy!

    I bet he’s “chillin’ like a villain”

I’m a Pigeon Point resident who followed the development of this story even when I was out of the country a couple of weeks ago. When I returned home to Seattle and Poppy was still gone, I saw another cat, minding his own business, walking on SW Charlestown last week. I slowed down and rolled down my window to ask if he had seen Poppy. Whatever works – I know I’d be out of my mind if my own precious kitty were missing.

I’ve driven by the giant (and adorable) #findpoppy signs every day, sending positive vibes for Poppy. There was a reason those bicyclists were there at that moment.  And selfishly, I’ve had a really, really bad couple of weeks here and I needed this. I feel like we all needed this.

Welcome home, Poppy! Enjoy you first good night’s sleep in three weeks, Teresa :)

Great news – Congratulations on being reunited!

Now that Poppy has been found, will all the signs be taken down? There seems to be quite a few! Thanks, and again happy for you.

@Alan….Thanks for telling me about the missing Siamese cat when you stopped to ask what I was doing in the bushes.  I know you were originally making sure I wasn’t having bike problems and I appreciate that.   I planned to check the WSblog, but I would not have gone back as far as September 17.

I’m glad it all worked out.  You can tell the owners really love Poppy.

Oh….as the story says Poppy was at the lower bridge….  What it doesn’t say is that I found Poppy on the east side of the lower bridge.  Poppy had walked across the bridge.  Brave cat.

Living on Pigeon Point, there’s lots of cats running around. It was the great artwork on the signs that made me keep a keener eye out.

Poppy is a lucky cat to have such a caring home.

Sorry, comment time is over.
