We heard it too: Flyover for Seahawks game

1:31 PM: Sorry we didn’t hear about this one in advance – that was a flyover for the Seahawks home opener, roaring in right over south West Seattle, a few minutes ago. Still looking up exactly what/whose jets they were.

1:46 PM: Haven’t found that info yet but here’s what it looked like for those at the stadium.

I saw this as I was walking home a few minutes ago and wondered what it was so I checked the blog as soon as I got in. Of course, you’re right on top of it!

Good to know. I couldn’t see due to foliage, and was imagining a North Korean rocket.

I about panicked. It was soooo loud.

It was. I was taking advantage of a few spare moments to go get some leaves swept up before the rain moved in … got the first few leaves in the bag … and suddenly …

Yeahhhh, I about pee myself so thank you for calming my nerves…normally, I’m all for it, but with the current situation in the world I immediately thought bad things.

Sometime before, that, maybe 15 minutes or so, I heard what sounded like a rather low flyover of what I guessed at the time to be a commercial jet going in/out of Sea-Tac. As always, it’s a bit disconcerting, but generally is an apparent change in flight path.

Then I heard the unmistakable sound of a  low-flying fighter jet, had a bit of a “WT-“? moment then remembered the Seahawks home opener.

I’m still leaning toward the earlier jet being commercial on a diverted flight path.

There were some low commercial flyovers earlier. We always check the online flight tracker. Boeing Field small aircraft frequently too.

Isnt there a 1000 ft minimum? I feel the single engine recips are too low. If i was a grumpy old man i would note tail numbers and file complaints with the FAA.

It was much more exciting to see and hear the rain.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling!!!!!!!!

Every time there is a flyover there are people thinking it’s an attack. It’s understandable but just to calm your nerves, our defense systems wouldn’t let an enemy rocket or jet anywhere near the mainland. The only thing to be remotely concerned about is a hijacked commercial airliner (which sound different than a military jet ).

With the rain falling we get to listen to people try to go up the Charleston hill!

    Going faster does not help.

Was I supposed to panic? I heard them and was busy with laundry and said “Oh crap! Seahawks are starting!”

    @Trickycoolj— LOL!!! Good one :>)

Squadron of F-15’s from the Oregon National Guard (Portland) performed the flyover at the Seahawks game right after the anthem

Yesterday morning I said to my wife – oh cool, it’s the Seahawk’s home opener – I’m sure they’ll be a flyover, we’ll have to remember to watch for it! Didn’t need to hear about it in advance to know to expect it.

Sorry, comment time is over.
