UNDER THE WEST SEATTLE BRIDGE: Trailside art

First, Don and Jason told us about those goats spotted along the bicycle/pedestrian trail under the high bridge, west of the low bridge. When we went over to see for ourselves, we discovered it was part of an official – albeit temporary – installation – this explanatory sign is along the trail behind the goats, for example:

And the goats weren’t alone. There’s more art along the trail – on bridge supports:

And more in the ivy:

The art under the bridge/along the trail is part of Art Interruptions 2017, which stretches further into North Delridge, we found out from Erika Lindsay of the city Office of Arts and Culture. She shared this map/postcard, with locations and information:

As you can see on the map, this is scheduled to continue through year’s end, with a walking tour scheduled for Saturday, October 7th, 10 am-noon – more info as that gets closer.

Ah, thanks. I thought they were perhaps prepping to turn some goats loose on the English Ivy.

Those goats are cool, I wish they would stay.

Another fine use of tax payer money…

As shown on the postcard/flyer, it’s part of the 1 percent for art program, which has been Seattle law for 44 years (since 1973). If you would like to see it repealed, you’ll want to suggest that to the City Council. – TR

I agree with Graciano … art is a perfectly fine use of taxpayer money.

Many moons ago an established or beginning artist would DONATE their art for free for the public good in the case of an established artist; and for publicity in the case of the “starving artist”…just saying… maybe some well established artist’s should think about being truly civic…. hint one of them makes funky expensive glass….

Publicity doesn’t put food on the table. Artists, designers, and writers are still way too often asked/expected to work for free, or to create something to enter in a “contest” with a pittance of a “prize.”

THESE ARE WONDERFUL!!  We certainly need more art. More things to make us smile.

I LOVE the goats. They make me smile every morning when I’m stuck in an otherwise lousy commute. I even thought this a.m. to ask the WSB the story behind them! Thanks for the update and thank you to the artist for the fun art. I hope they can stay.

But the real question is, has anyone seen Groucho lurking in the bushes upslope?

Love the black teen in a hoodie! Really cool.

I love this art in my North Delridge neighborhood!

Sorry, comment time is over.
