Power flickers around north West Seattle; no word of outage so far

9:58 PM: Thanks for the tips/questions. We’re receiving reports that power briefly flickered around north West Seattle – The Junction, Genesee Hill, Admiral. So far no word of the cause, and no WS outage has shown up on the Seattle City Light map. (If you have completely lost power, please alert City Light, 206-684-3000 – and then let us know at 206-293-6302 – thanks!)

10:32 PM: We’ve also heard from Gatewood, High Point, and Alki – where one person says it’s been attributed to balloons getting tangled in a power line, and several report a loud noise preceding the flicker. We’re not likely to hear anything official tonight but will check with SCL in the morning.

We lost power, for just a few seconds, near 53rd and Admiral.  Bright blue light preceded the outage, but no explosion.

Very wired, a slow dimming then no power, then a loud humming or buzzing then the power come back on. Like a transformer was over loaded or something. (Not an electrician ) so don’t kill me on what I think I heard. On second though, go ahead and kill me on what I said, have fun.

Flickered briefly in North Delridge. We assumed it was some kind of power surge because two lights blew out.

Heard a loud boom just prior to lights going off – and immediately coming back on – in the direction of whale tale park…

40th Ave SW between Genessee and Dakota. Power went completely out for a few seconds. Didn’t see anything strange outside, not that I looked! Weird.

30th and Morgan side of High Point for sure. Glad to see this since I wondered if I was really overtired.

We had a brownout in sunrise heights at the time.

This is just a small inconvenience but with all the small quakes happening lately, just one question.

Three Days, Three Ways, Are you Ready?

More like 3 weeks, than 3 days….Seattle failed the Operation Cascadia drill miserably last summer. Check out their report online….And yes, ready for whatever. Stock up weekly.

A balloon grounded out the transformer on the power pole at the Alki West Seattle Brewing. Brightest light I have ever seen, classic moment on Alki

Sorry, comment time is over.
