BIZNOTE: Sushi Samurai opening Alki Beach location this Wednesday

Back in late March, we reported on Sushi Samurai taking over the ex-Subway spot at 2758 Alki SW, between Top Pot Doughnuts and Pegasus Pizza. Now, we have an update from co-proprietor Ray Maranonn, who tells WSB, “We are happy to announce that we will be opening on Wednesday, May 10th, at 11:30 am. Our hours for now will be 11:30 am-7 pm Wednesday-Sunday, and I anticipate those changing to Monday-Sunday in the next few weeks.” This is Sushi Samurai‘s second location; its first is on Queen Anne.

Cool! Sounds tasty; can’t wait to try it.

Hopefully after they are up and running, and see what business is like, they will extend their hours a little. 7pm seems a little early to me.

I think they will do well this summer with all the traffic going by. Sad that there isn’t enough parking….it tends to keep me away from the  area when considering where to eat when going out

I hope they are prepared for the summer crowds. I agree 7 p.m. is really early. I will probably wait until the summer crowds disappear. ;)

They opened today (Wednesday) at 12:30pm, rather than 11:30am.  They didn’t have the descriptions of their various rolls printed yet, but the sushi chef was very gracious about describing what was in each roll when asked.

Thanks, sorry, that was the information they gave us, just a couple days ago.

They clearly don’t understand Alki yet.  They would be better off in focusing on dinner and staying open til at least 9.  No one will be in there for lunch.  11-7 are the kind of hours that downtown Terriyaki lunch shops maintain.

    Hello West Seattle residents,

Thanks for the feedback. As far as us opening at 11:30am on Wednesday, sorry about that we were delayed an hour.

As far as our hours go moving forward, we would be changing it and we would have a later closing time.

I just tried their Spicy Tuna Roll. Served with orange slices, raspberries and an edible orchid flower. Freshly made before my eyes! Delicious. Lots of other interesting things on their menu which I will be trying in the future.

I don’t think parking will be a problem – it’s close to the bus stop, and local walk-ins will keep them busy and not just during the summer. It’s so nice to have a freshly made food option close to home on Alki. They say they plan on offering online ordering and third party delivery in the future.

I foresee a lot of days when I don’t feel like cooking this will be my go-to option. It is really the first restaurant on Alki that has attracted me for take out – and I have lived here since 1976.

    Liquor license is still pending.

I live on Alki and I was very pleased to see Sushi Samurai open up!  I’ve been there 2 days in a row now and have ordered the mixed seafood poke salad bowl. Great flavor, very fresh, and just the right amount! Go check it out if you’re in the area.  You’ll find the staff working there very friendly and helpful.  Enjoy!

Sorry, comment time is over.
