We will have hand-held labyrinths available for those who are mobility challenged and music will play softly in the background.” (Entry through Fellowship Hall doorway off 41st SW/SW Andover)

I’m confused. Why would someone wait in a long line to get into Ulta Beauty?

There are big sales as well as coupons mailed to most homes nearby for opening weekend.  That stuff ain’t cheap.

@Steve–Cosmetics is about a lot more than “covering your face with chemicals and concealers”.  Maybe you should visit the store yourself some time.  You might learn something!

    Is it more disturbing that:

    1. people are waiting in line to get into such a retail store,

    2. it is somehow newsworthy with a photo,

    3. it needs a weblink,

    4. covering your face with chemicals and concealers is considered beauty.

Some people choose to cover their heads with dark cloth as it is cheaper than monthly hair dye and trips to the salon. Fake is fake.

The orcas are not thanking us for rinsing unnecessary chemicals down the drain.

Lining up around the store to get in on opening day at a beauty shop? Seriously?  The store must be offering some big grand prizes or major “freebies.” I can’t imagine people getting this excited about this.  Or maybe they are they being paid to line up for some free PR.

According to a social-media page for the opening, “each day (of the three-day grand opening), the first 100 guests will receive an Ulta Beauty treat – valued $5 to $100.” So there’ll probably be lines the next two mornings too. Anyway, you guys might not be interested but since we published first word of this chain coming to WWV, it’s been the most-frequent inquiry in our inbox, “when is the Ulta Beauty store opening?” – TR

I really do appreciate you Tracy.

This just proves that a retail store which sells a product that people want, will reap their business and profit.

I’m looking forward to shopping at Ulta but I think I’ll wait till the crowds thin out.

I never once set foot in Pier 1.

@Steve, I for one do not cover my face with chemicals and concealers, I  just use mascara so yes, I guess I do rinse down the drain some chemicals but you as a man do you shave and if so do you use shave cream, soap or some other kind of whisker softener to shave, if so you too are rinsing chemicals down the drain.

And another thing if females didn’t feel as though they needed to look like runway models from the majority of people maybe “we” wouldn’t have the feeling of needing all those chemicals to feel beautiful.
And anyways Ulta does sell more than just chemicals.

As a woman who used to sell cosmetics for a living, I agree with M and Steve.  Can’t imagine waiting in line to buy…anything, much less cosmetics.  I’m always careful of what goes down the drain, but the excessive packaging used for cosmetics is yet another reason to exercise restraint.

Sorry, comment time is over.
