WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Recognize this vandal?

South Delridge neighbors caught a tagger on camera in an alley in the 8800 block of 17th SW:

The tag left behind after the sighting on Friday was the anarchy symbol:

Now SPD has put out a citywide call to identify the tagger. Neighbors also shared these video clips with us:

If you know who this is, SPD says, call 911.

I wonder if this is the same person that left a giant, black 666 on my neighbor’s house on 48th going down to Lowman…

    • 666 April 30, 2017 (1:48 pm)

We’ve been wondering about that… didn’t make sense this would be the house number.

    • Alki Resident April 30, 2017 (3:44 pm)

There was a 666 on the hair salon brick wall next to the Original Bakery too

  • Joe April 30, 2017 (1:59 pm)

Saw this guy in U District. In fact there were two of them. I think we have twins on our hands. Maybe triplets…

Whatever the case, if anyone has specific or potentially specific ID, please share it with police, not here. The neighbors who also contacted us said it seemed detectives were especially interested given potential May Day mayhem tomorrow, which explains the urgency. Thanks.

Look how he holds the can.  I’ll bet he’s left handed.

  • M April 30, 2017 (3:18 pm)

Hopefully they distribute to all the local high schools. He looks about that age.

  • Jamie April 30, 2017 (3:49 pm)

Is it really that serious ? We have unsolved murders and a huge drug and homelessness problem…and people are worried about a teenager using spray paint on a garage door ???? Priorities all types of screwed up in this world.

    • The Truth April 30, 2017 (4:37 pm)

When you work hard for things you shouldn’t stand by and let some kid get away with damaging it.  This kid needs to learn a valuable lesson now before he gets more comfortable breaking the law.

    • M April 30, 2017 (5:05 pm)

I’m worried about it. I’m so sick of the increased graffiti and property crime. Catch him, throw the book and him and make an example of him.

    • Mike April 30, 2017 (11:24 pm)

If we can only work on single issues, priorities are the issue.  Not all police are trained to investigate murders, same as not all are trained to investigate property crime like this.  You’ll be happy to know I’ve seen Latin Kings tags on our schools, you should hope the police investigate that tag I saw as that gang makes your average murderer look like a preschool child hitting another kid.  Maybe people need to wake up and stop allowing any crime to continue, because it’s ‘not a big deal’.

      Jamie,

If you had just spent $1,200-$2,000 on a new garage door you might think it’s serious too.

  • Huck April 30, 2017 (4:21 pm)

Jamie, maybe you’d feel different if he tagged your house.

  • natinstl April 30, 2017 (4:41 pm)

Jamie, when I have to buy paint and repaint my garage door due to some jerk like this, I’ll be sure to call you.

    • Mike April 30, 2017 (11:26 pm)

I’ll be sure SPS sends the clean up bill to Jamie for the 6 times I’ve reported tagging on just the school by me.  It’s ok though, she’s worried about other crime, so she’ll pay for these as it’s just a little thing

Speaking of graffiti vandalism, I just got back from a walk to Lincoln Park and Colman Pool.   Last week I noticed that the majority of graffiti on the pool walls had been covered up.   Thank-you.  But then today I see that two more panels have been tagged again with multi-colored paint.

If someone has the Parks Department’s ear, would you please let them know?  My last efforts to reach them didn’t get anywhere.

  • Archie April 30, 2017 (4:44 pm)

Jamie, please let us know exactly what level of crime you believe we should silently tolerate due to worse things happening in the world so that we may avoid disturbing your tender sensibilities with our community discussions in the future.

So sick of this. I’ve spent a half day covering up tagging. Trip to McClendon, but paint (trying to match), covering up, and looks like heck- takes a lot of time to fix the damage and what I have is a rectangle of barely matched paint. Yeah, just put up with it! Sure.

  • Dave II April 30, 2017 (5:09 pm)

    Tagging/ vandalism is so childish/selfish/pointless.

  • Je April 30, 2017 (5:20 pm)

THere is a place to report tagging and graffiti on the Seattle city webpage and if u use the online form you get a case number and can follow up. They are usually really quick to come out and  address it. The more we report it the more resources they use to keep things cleaned up

Unemployable Antifa trash destroying private property “Because: Communism”. What else is new?

SPD should take note from Portland Police on how properly handle these cosplaying revolutionaries who routinely assault citizens, illegally block traffic, and make threats against anyone who disagrees with their so-called ideology.

They’re like a less impressive but more annoying version of the henchmen from The Road Warrior.

    • Agrees April 30, 2017 (8:36 pm)

I do agree.  I think if caught he should be given what he wants most – Anarchy.  As in, a one way ticket to a country with a non functioning government.  How long might he last in what Wikipedia defines as a ‘Fragile State’ ?

      • Imagine65 April 30, 2017 (9:58 pm)

        He doesn’t need a one-way ticket, he’s already there!

  • Elle Nell April 30, 2017 (6:32 pm)

Pretty much on the fence with this one- totally understand where Jamie is coming from. I’ve been tagged 1/2 a dozen times or so in the last 20 yrs… really not that serious. Part of living in the city one and among mischief makers two… the good thing is that this doesn’t look like a gangster tagging your house for a robbery after casing it. im sure living out in the country would definitely solve this problem.. again, welcome to Seattle!!

    • Typical WS April 30, 2017 (10:52 pm)

Right, just a white kid making mischief, thank goodness not a gangster up to something bad!   I mean, this artistic expression is probably good for his self-esteem.   Good for you, little man, your drawing is very, very special.

  • Jon Wright April 30, 2017 (6:34 pm)

I’m a big fan of how they deal with this sort of thing in Singapore.

    • Jon April 30, 2017 (10:00 pm)

Agreed. If anything, it is certainly a clean City-State.

Authoritarian and overly censorious, but clean. :P

  • WestCake April 30, 2017 (6:36 pm)

That’s a girl, I see her in North Admiral Safeway.

  • rg April 30, 2017 (8:56 pm)

Jamie.  I agree with you.  this brat should be punished as every other teenage kid with a can of paint should be.  it was a pretty good anarchy sign though wasn’t it!!!

  • Double Dub Resident May 1, 2017 (6:02 am)

The irony here is not having anarchy is the only thing from this little twerp from getting punked on a daily basis

  • fiz May 1, 2017 (7:19 am)

Laughing here!  I showed the video to Hubby and he said “Is that a girl?”

  • Tag May 1, 2017 (7:34 am)

Here is the hi-res video and pictures of the tagger.
