WEST SEATTLE WEATHER: Slide-risk alert

The good news: The newest National Weather Service forecast discussion says, “Drier weather is possible Sunday and Monday.” The bad news: Rain off and on until then. And as a result, a Special Weather Statement is out, warning of increased slide risk, because: “Continued wet weather over many weeks has kept the soils of western Washington near saturation.” So if you’re in a slide-prone zone (here’s the official city map) – be extra-watchful. Here are slide-related do’s and don’ts.

There was a river of chocolate milk colored water running off the Highland Park slide during my commute home Monday. I wish the city would tell us what happened and whether it’s even stable enough  to be traveling through there.

Driving down Admiral you can see a fairly large waterfall shooting out the retaining walls.  You can see the path it has carved is coming from the area where the illegal tree removal occurred.

Funny how nature provided trees to help absorb water and when they are removed hillsides become compromised.

    Greed is dumb.

Neighbor.  I tried emailing the city on the trees sloping higher up Admiral Way.  Took 3 weeks for a person to respond asking me to contact someone else.  I gave up on that issue.  I did report the potholes where the waterfall is a few weeks back.  Atleast the city took care of that right away.  I suspect those potholes will open up again with the water run off.

Sorry, comment time is over.
