VIDEO: West Seattle Symphony Orchestra, violinist Quinton Morris get ready for Friday concert

(WSB photo & video)

Friday night, you can enjoy beautiful music for free without leaving the peninsula. The West Seattle Community Orchestras‘ Symphony Orchestra is getting ready for its “Spring Celebration” concert; we stopped by last night’s rehearsal to record a bit of video with internationally acclaimed guest violinist Quinton Morris:

Dr. Morris will be performing Mozart‘s “Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major” with the Symphony Orchestra, conducted by James Pham, in the auditorium at Chief Sealth International High School (2600 SW Thistle). Showtime Friday night (March 10th) is 7:30 pm. No admission charge, no tickets required, but as always, donations “will be gratefully accepted,” WSCO says.

To those who aren’t familiar, WSCO has developed into a wonderful community asset due to committed leadership and dedicated players.   Also, a big shoutout to Seattle Schools for letting them use the Sealth facility.

WSCO is such a treasure to our area.  My son played in it for many years, and I even joined in for a few.  Thank you to Toni for spearheading and shepherding it for so long!  Thank you to all the participants, current and past.

I had no idea you were recording our rehearsal Tuesday night. This is surely going to be a great night.

Good luck with the performance! We didn’t just sneak in … we asked if we could get a photo or video from rehearsal to make the preview more than just text, and found out there would be a rehearsal Tuesday night that we would be allowed to drop in on, so co-publisher Patrick Sand was there for a bit. – TR

Very cool! Thanks. What a pleasant surprise to see that video. Thanks for that. Looking forward to playing the concert with everyone, especially Quinton. He’s a great guy!

How long will the show last approximately?  I’d like to bring my 8 year old and am hoping it doesn’t run too too long.

    Thanks!
