TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Wednesday on the move

(SDOT MAP with travel times/video links; is the ‘low bridge’ closed? LOOK HERE)

7:33 AM: No incidents in our area but slow going around the region this morning, and rainy yet again.

8:16 AM: Crash reported on NB 99 in the stadium zone. SFD has been sent; SPD is on the way.

8:23 AM: Crash at 35th/Avalon. Thanks for the tip; SFD is being dispatched now. Tipster says two vehicles are involved.

8:39 AM: SDOT has found the NB 99 crash on the Lander camera (featured above). Blocking the right lane, they report.

8:55 AM: Now moved to the shoulder and no longer blocking, says SDOT. Meantime, the 35th/Avalon situation has moved to the Taco Time parking lot, so far as we can tell from the scanner.

Admiral is completely backed up again today I have been waiting in the left lane to get on the bridge or 10 minutes

  • Chris March 15, 2017 (7:52 am)

give yourself at least 45 minutes to get across the bridge

    • Lisa March 15, 2017 (12:13 pm)

That 45 minutes does not include the 15 minutes to get down the Admiral Way hill from California or onto the ramp to I-5, just literally across the bridge

The traffic has been sluggish at 7 this week.  But still getting to work (lower Queen Anne) at the same time.

  • East Coast Cynic March 15, 2017 (8:46 am)

7am tends to be the cutoff before the sluggish gets much more sluggish and causes significant delays for cars and buses when it rains.

  • CJ March 15, 2017 (9:05 am)

I departed the Morgan Junction at 7:30am. Took me 50 minutes to get to I-5.

  • Kent Corley March 15, 2017 (9:06 am)

Been sitting for 15 mins to try to get over the lower bridge. Can’t believe it is closed in the middle of this horrible rush hour!

    • Robert March 15, 2017 (9:21 am)

      Yeah that’s a joke

  • Kerry March 15, 2017 (9:13 am)

Stay home or turn the car around! Cars are turning off their cars on the lower bridge.

  • Trickycoolj March 15, 2017 (9:17 am)

Traffic backed up from East Marginal over the South Park bridge into South Park.

    • WSB March 15, 2017 (9:21 am)

The latest vessel traffic closing the surface bridges seems to be southbound – first the low WS Bridge closed (reopened at 9:06 am), then the 1st Ave. S. Bridge closed (listed as reopened at 9:09). The link we have below the traffic cams is the only one that shows bridge closures – http://twitter.com/sdotbridges – you don’t have to be a Twitter user to see the info. Little consolation if you’re caught in the backup but just a reminder for anyone who hadn’t noticed that feature. – TR

I definitely keep tabs on the account. Doesn’t help when the foot of the South Park bridge is literally in my work parking lot.

I’m done. Anyone want to buy a home in west seattle?

    • WSB March 15, 2017 (9:30 am)

Hate to see you go but if you’re (or anyone else out there is) serious, realtors say they’re still desperately short on inventory. We have *four* as sponsors if you want to contact any of them, listed on the WSB Sponsors directory page

Complaining about Seattle traffic is like complaining about the rain… everybody does it but no one does anything about it!  Lol.

Whenever streets, getting to Fauntleroy, are backed up to California Ave, I go home and wait. I realize not everyone can do this but I just figure I’d rather spend an an hour at home stress free vs an hour slowly creeping on the on 2 mile on ramp (aka WS Bridge) to get to I5..

Willing to bet this had a domino effect all the way back to Fauntleroy and the WS Bridge.

This is the worst traffic I’ve experienced so far since moving out of West Seattle. Transit from Tacoma to West Seattle for work going on 3 hours…normally an hour and twenty mins. Just a clustery day.

No single raindrop ever blames itself for the flood…..

      I like this comment.

The exit to 99 has been backed up (a bit) all week – at 6:45am.

I can only imagine what it’s like by 7:45.

  • kjb March 15, 2017 (2:41 pm)

I leave North Delridge every morning at 7:15 and make it to Queen Anne by 7:40 at the latest. This week, last week, for months now. Take the low bridge and it is always smooth sailing.  I don’t have to be to work until 8am and am never late.

Sorry, comment time is over.
