TRAFFIC, TRANSIT, WEATHER TODAY: Wednesday watch

(SDOT MAP with travel times/video links; is the ‘low bridge’ closed? LOOK HERE)

(Click any view for a close-up; more cameras on the WSB Traffic page)

6:48 AM: Good morning! No incidents in/from West Seattle so far. But it’s at or below freezing out there, so ice is possible here and there. The National Weather Service‘s “forecast discussion” says flurries are possible tonight but nothing major.

It was an unusually slow bus ride (#57 at 6:55am), lots of slow moving traffic on the 99 and getting on the 99 from the bridge.  Somehow, we managed to arrive on time.

Something was going on with the low-bridge.  I didn’t see the lights flashing warning that the bridge was closed to traffic, but when I got around the corner from Delridge, the road was backed up and not moving.   Eventually I changed lanes and took the high bridge.  Even after the slow slog to 1st Ave exit, it must still have been closed as no traffic was coming up the ramp from the lower roadway.

Ha Ha –  newnative, you must be from California because you called it “the 99.” Drop “the” and you’ll be less “new.”

Wherever you’re from, welcome! You’ve chosen a great city and community!

I add “the” to just about everything.  While I am from Northern Cal (just off the 99) I moved here from Arizona 7 years ago. I’m sure I will always refer to any highway as “the___”.  :)

Sorry, comment time is over.
