BIZNOTE: After 9 years, Atomic Boys’ Admiral store to close in January

(WSB photo: Parris and Kent Sadow, photographed in 2013)

The store with a rocket in its logo is going to blast off early next year. Parris and Kent Sadow have just announced that they’ll close their Admiral District toys-and-candy shop (Max and Quinn’s) Atomic Boys (Shop-o-Rama) early next year:

Since 2008, Atomic Boys has provided West Seattle with retro toys, games, novelties and an extensive selection of the candy “you grew up with”. It’s been our pleasure to see our customers, young and old, rediscover these things and introduce them to the next generation.

After much deliberation, we have decided to close our storefront on Admiral Way when our lease ends at the end of January. Along with our sons, whom the store is named after, we have enjoyed being an active part of the business community and watching the various generations of kids grow up from elementary school to college age by being that “local shop” they look forward to going to. And as all things grow and develop, we are also considering new opportunities and exciting ideas.

Atomic Boys has plenty of new merchandise for holiday shopping as well as great deals and will be closing out back-stock and any remaining stock in January in a blow-out sale!

Thank you, West Seattle, for a super cool, fab, outta-sight nine years….and stay tuned!

Your neighbors,

Kent & Parris Sadow
Max & Quinn’s Atomic Boys, LLC
4311 SW Admiral Way

The Sadow family opened Atomic Boys in early 2008 after buying out Hart’s Cards and Gifts.

Awww! So sad to read this. We love Atomic Boys! My daughter was just requesting another visit to this awesome store. We love the great, retro toys, gifts and candy and will really miss AB’s. Best wishes to you both.

Oh no!  Our family has loved visiting Atomic Boys over the years.  Your shop is one of the best things about the Admiral neighborhood and West Seattle.   Thanks for the nostalgia and best of luck in your next adventure!

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to make it to Atomic Boys as often as I would have liked, but have always liked the store, and am sad to see it go. :-(

Aw! I’m looking at one of our Christmas tree ornaments we picked up at your store right now! We’ll be sure to stop by and say hi again before you say good-bye, we always did love paying a visit when we were in Admiral. Best of luck to you.

Gave my daughter a lava lamp. She seemed so-so. But. It is now lovingly used in her bedroom. Where it should be. Thanks Atomic Boys!

Can’t believe it’s been nine years! Loved your store – best cards and toys in town. I’ll been in soon for Christmas shopping and then in January for the final sale. We and our grandkids will miss you very much – happy future!

This is wonderful and sad news! I was JUST there yesterday doing some Santa work and I was thinking “how great I didn’t even have to leave west Seattle to find such amazing things”

You will be missed but cheers to your successful nest adventure!

Never even heard of them.  Maybe they should have advertised

Oh so sad. I always had dreams of you moving to the California/Alaska Junction some day. So many more would have appreciated all the good stuff you had to offer. Guess I better get back in there quick!

So happy for your support! You provided some spunk, to an otherwise hum-drum neighborhood, we call the Admiral District. Now it is time for someone else to give it a go. Cheers!

Sorry, comment time is over.
