MISSING TEEN UPDATE: Josiah ‘located in Portland’

9 PM: Thanks to the readers who shared information that the missing boy has been found, including this note from Aviation High School‘s principal:

I am happy to report that Josiah Hokanson has been located in Portland, OR and safely reunited with his family. I know we are all very relieved that he has been found. As a parent, I can only imagine what the family was going through these past few days.

Thank you to everyone who prayed, pitched in, and helped in any small way. I know the family has appreciated everyone’s efforts. Parents and students, hug each other tonight – no moment is too small to take advantage of.

EARLIER – 9:47 AM:

While this is not a West Seattle case, we’ve had multiple requests to publish the flyer, since this missing boy has classmates who live here:

16-year-old Josiah Hokanson lives in Sumner but attends Aviation High School, which is alongside Boeing Field [map]; it’s a magnet school which draws from a wide area. It’s in Tukwila city limits, so that is the police department investigating; as the flyer says, if you have any information, please call Tukwila PD at 206-433-1808 and refer to missing-persons case 16-7996. (Or call 911.)

According to his father, he has Asberger’s Syndrome and is very trusting of strangers

Thank you for sharing this.  I work near the high school and often see students at Starbucks.  Will keep an eye out.

I was downtown this afternoon and saw these signs posted on 6th Ave by Pacific Place and Nordstrom.  We hope he is safe and returns home soon.

I have seen several FB posts that he was found safe and in good health.

Thanks. Someone just sent me a note sent out tonight by Aviation HS’s principal saying that he was found in Portland and is OK – so we will be updating this. As I told that sender, I had asked the folks who asked us to publish this to please let us know when they got word, since, given it’s not a Seattle case, we might not hear otherwise. But they might not even have heard. – TR

Im so happy to hear he’s been found. But Im also appreciative to the blog for posting this info. Missing kids could be anywhere. It just takes one of us to spot a kid and leads to a great ending. So thank you WS Blog.
