West Seattle Crime Watch: Exposer alert

This reader report e-mailed today is from someone who wanted to anonymously alert West Seattle neighbors:

Yesterday morning when I was walking my dog on SW Henderson between 31st and 32nd Ave SW [map], a Caucasian man pulled up in a silver Nissan (not sure of the model) and asked for directions to Delridge and Holden. I started to give him directions from there when I noticed movement in his lap; it took another moment for me to realize that he was touching himself while I was talking. I stepped away from the car and he continued to stare for another moment until he drove away. I took down the license plate of his car and a description of the driver, and I’ve filed a report with the SW Precinct.

We’ve sent a followup question about the driver’s description and will update with the response.

What model was the silver Nissan? Other reports have been a silver suv or small van.

This was posted on Nextdoor yesterday:

“I was walking my dog on 29th and Barton when a man in a small white car pulled up beside me and asked me for directions. When I looked in the car, I saw he had his penis out and was wagging it. Then I ran away. The police say it will be hard to find him with my vague description. I just want other women to be on alert. I have reported this information to the police.
Description of person involved – Hair: Brown, Top: T-shirt, Bottom: Jeans, Age: 35, Build: Heavy, Race: White, Sex: Male
Description of vehicle involved – Color: White, Type: Hatchback or sedan”

Thanks – that site is invisible to us and many other people so if anyone ever sees something crime/safety-wise there that you haven’t seen here, please suggest the report’er tells us too so more people will be aware via the open Web. Provided they have already reported it to police – speaking of which, neither that incident nor this one is in Tweets by Beat or on the SPD report map, so I don’t have incident #’s but will check further with SPD. And one more reminder that the West Seattle Crime Prevention Council meets TONIGHT (7 pm, precinct), and neighborhood concerns/followups are always a major part of the meeting. – TR

Well, if they got his plate, then the police should be paying him a visit. At least we could hope.

Good for you for having the presence of mind to take down the plate! Hope it leads to something!

My 15 year old was approached in Westwood Village around 5:30pm by a man who asked him if he could buy his underwear for $100. The creeper was a white guy in his 30s with  a puffy black jacket.

I called security and that seemed pointless and also tried the non-emergency SPD line, but no one answered.

Sorry to hear about that. That sounds suspicious enough for 911. Remember, even police say it – 911 and non emergency are answered by the same calltakers, so if it’s happening NOW and it’s suspicious, call 911. Sometimes in a case like that you might find out they have no officers available for anything but life-threatening calls … but sometimes you also might find out they have someone right around the corner.

I carry pepper-spray. In my hand, not my purse. I hope he asks me for directions. I also carry decontamination wipes. This is horrible and I won’t stand for it. My heart goes out to each of the people victimized by this.

Sorry, comment time is over.
