UPDATE: Flipped-vehicle crash on eastbound Roxbury

img_0140

Thanks to the texter who sent that photo of a car that flipped on the eastbound side of Roxbury near 5th. They say traffic is backed up “to about 12th” – so avoid the area for a while. As you can see from the responding agencies, this is on the county side. Since a private ambulance is responding, it appears no one suffered life-threatening injuries. Metro says Routes 60 and 113 are rerouted on the eastbound side as a result:

4:54 PM: Metro says the buses are back to their regular routing.

    Another rollover?

I am jumping on the conspiracy bandwagon that West Seattle has more flipped cars than any other neighborhood in Seattle.

Actually more like, no place else has a news site where you’ll see them all (well, 95% of them, anyway). There are other neighborhood news sites scattered around the city but everyone has their own coverage philosophy and we’re the only one doing 24/7 breaking news of all kinds. That aside, we have to say thanks AGAIN to the person who texted this, as we were out of position to get there this time. This is not too far from last weekend’s Olson Place crash, FWIW.

I think people are watching old Joey Chitwood videos on you tube

That’s a really dangerous spot (if you’re driving over 80mph).

The pavement on the curve at Olsen Place/Roxbury is very slick when it rains, especially heading westbound on Roxbury.  I’m surprised the City didn’t roughened the surface at this location like they did further down the hill.

It would be interesting to know if this was a couple that were in the vehicle! Right before we heard and saw and aid car go flying down Roxbury we were at Safeway and a couple tried to walk out with a basket of food and were caught by an employee at Safeway and a man and woman quickly went to a car and left the scene! That hill is only a roll over danger when people drive too fast down it! The “speed limit” posted is for IDEAL road conditions ONLY! People are to slow when roads are slick not try to go the IDEAL speed limit posted. Maybe a yellow rollover caution sign should be posted on the road! As is posted in other high roll over risk areas

Honk when you drive by Vern Fonk

You have to be driving like a maniac to flip a car on a city street.  The police should automatically write all flippers a ticket for reckless driving, if they can catch the driver, that is, since some are probably stolen cars and the driver will run.

Sorry, comment time is over.
