West Seattle High School is 2-0 after a big win last night at Southwest Athletic Complex.
The Wildcats’ first home game of the season ended with a 43-7 victory over Ingraham. The scoring was spread around: #84 Colin Roman (below, celebrating with #85 Andrew Burggraff) got the first touchdown with 8:17 to go in the first quarter.
Five minutes later, Ingraham tied the game at 7-7 …
… and the Wildcats’ defense shut the Rams down from that point forward. West Seattle’s next two TDs were by #80 John Ursino.
For insurance points, they went for 2-point conversions rather than extra-point kicks. Just before halftime, the Rams’ Yassim Abdullahi was denied a TD with a WSHS takedown two yards short of goal.
The first two second half TDs were by #18 Gabe Gagnon and #3 Nate Pryor, both with point-after kicks by Myles Gionet.
Then, #8 Rico Saeturn with 10:44 left in the fourth quarter – and that took the score to WSHS 43, Ingraham 7, where it remained to the end.
Next week, the 2-0 Wildcats, led by head coach Tom Burggraff, are back at SWAC, facing Garfield.
