EARLY-MORNING TRAFFIC ALERT: Trouble at east end of West Seattle Bridge

1:21 AM: If you’re heading out on this rainy early morning – the one route you are NOT going to want to take is the eastbound West Seattle Bridge to southbound I-5. In the past hour or so, we’ve been monitoring scanner traffic about two crashes – currently, one that is reported to involve a jack-knifed semi-truck, blocking all lanes of SB I-5 just south of the WS Bridge. No major injuries reported in either one so far, and we don’t have full details, but we’ve heard enough to publish this alert.

2:04 AM: Some lanes of SB I-5 have reopened, per WSDOT, but the ramp from the EB WS Bridge is still blocked.

On bus 143 traffic is moving slow but steady at 30 mph, 40 mph on the HOV lane.

There were also three totaled sedans in the side of Fauntleroy in front of the Fairmount playground. One was sitting in the bicycle lane. There wasn’t anyone around, so it appeared to have happened earlier. Any word on what happened there?

I drove my about 6:25, looked like the police had just arrived.  There was vw bug that looked as it had hit the fence of the playground, looked as if it had been headed north and another small dark colored car w/front end damage facing the wrong direction in the northbound lanes of Fauntleroy.  I didn’t see a 3rd car at that time.   May have missed it trying to navigate around police cars and debris in the road.

Sorry, comment time is over.
