First on our list for today, including a traffic alert:

ALKI BEACH 5K: The route along Alki and Harbor Avenues, east of 63rd SW, will close at about 8 am, which is also when last-minute registration and check-in starts by the Alki Bathhouse. The run/walk benefits Northwest Hope and Healing, which helps breast- and gynecologic-cancer patients deal with everyday expenses that don’t stop because of diagnosis and treatment. (61st SW/Alki SW)

Here’s what else is happening:

GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE: 10 am-4 pm at the Alki Masonic Center in The Junction, the Amethyst Chapter/Order of the Eastern Star is sponsoring a Bloodworks Northwest donation drive. Walk-in donors are welcome, but note that the drive will be closed for a break between noon and 1 pm. (40th SW/SW Edmunds)

WEST SEATTLE FARMERS’ MARKET: 10 am-2 pm in The Junction, local growers’ fresh produce, meat, cheese, baked goods, beverages, more. (California SW between SW Oregon and SW Alaska)

FESTIVAL CENTROAMERICANO: 11 am-7 pm at Westcrest Park in Highland Park, this is the first-ever Seattle festival dedicated to celebrating Central American culture – free! Details in our calendar listing. (9000 8th SW)

ALKI LIGHTHOUSE TOURS: 1-4 pm, today’s your fourth-to-last chance to visit West Seattle’s historic lighthouse during the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary‘s summer tours – after the 3-day Labor Day weekend, it’s closed to the public until next year. (Alki SW/Beach Drive SW)

STEVEN STACK: Singer/songwriter/pianist performs at C & P Coffee Company (WSB sponsor), 3-5 pm. (5612 California SW)

KOL HANESHAMAH’S ANNUAL PICNIC: 4-7 pm at Alki Beach Park, the West Seattle synagogue invites members and prospective members to its annual picnic: “KHN will provide veggie burgers and other grilled delights. You provide the salads and side dishes (vegetarian, kosher fish, no nuts).” (Alki SW/62nd SW)

Thanks, Chris. For some reason your uploaded photo displayed upside down – our system’s fault, not yours – so I saved and reuploaded it and flipped it. Some cameraphone photos display upside down, inexplicably and maddeningly, and that’s also on our glitch-fix list. We do have a WSB photographer there and should have more scenes from the festival later! – TR

It is really cool and so many amazing performances 😀

It looks like the photo was cropped in addition to flipped because my original photo had three dancers that I wanted to post .

No, I just flipped it – what’s shown here is all that was shown (I do see 3 dancers in the foreground, though). If you e-mail us your photo we can compare – editor@westseattleblog.com – again, I’m sure it was some flaw of the comment-editing software, nothing you did.

    Thanks TR.

My iPhone doesn’t display the entire image for some reason, but I see it on the PC.

Sorry, comment time is over.
