11:15 PM: Several Seattle Fire crews are responding to the 9200 block of 9th SW, where multiple reports are coming in about an apparent brush fire. The first crews arriving say it’s close to a fence but not to a house, and they suspect fireworks, so they’re calling for SPD. We’re en route to check it out.

11:35 PM: Fire charred a yard. Out now, no one hurt. SPD officers are here investigating, as is SFD’s marshal.

11:48 PM: So far, fire investigators tell us, they believe this was indeed fireworks-related. Damage was limited to the yard; a nearby car is covered in ash. One neighbor told us she has a 9-month-old baby who couldn’t sleep because of the noise. Crews are packing up to leave.

setting your neighbors’ yard on fire – now THAT is patriotism. ugh.

‘Merica!! Eat, get drunk, illegally shoot off CHINESE MADE fireworks, endangering other people’s property and maybe even lives, and call it patriotism.

How come I never read about people complaining about fireworks going off during football season? Different rules for different situations I guess. No fireworks during Federal holidays but did the hawks score against the browns? Boom!

Yes, why don’t you read them? There have been numerous complaints written about fireworks-related to sports celebrations as well. Just not yet on this post.

Not comparable. Nowhere near the volume, mess, frequency of the days/nights surrounding the 4th – likely because fireworks are not sold anywhere nearby during football season, unlike this time of year. Still dangerous and illegal, any time of year. And we do get texts “what was that explosion?” No fires like this that I can recall. – TR

Well cynical, the most obvious answer is that there isn’t an article written here on the subject of the Seahawks, so it’s hard to reply to a non existent article.

As a Hawks fan, I didn’t care for my neighbors shooting off fire works (which were surely left over from illegally shooting them off on the 4th) after the Hawks scoring a touchdown.

Thankfully the Hawks don’t score 2,000+ touchdowns that seem to be the case in my neighborhood every 4th

Hawks season isn’t dry season. Most likely not going to burn anything down.

Good point Scott. PEOPLE are practicing ‘Merica right now in my neighborhood.

I don’t understand why people are shooting up the huge fireworks in the middle of the residential street.  At least go to an open area like a park.  Police is not helpful either.  It’s legal in the unincorporated area…

NO! Stop going to parks to do this! Lincoln Park and Lowman Beach were SOOOOO LOUDDDDD last night, until the wee hours of the morning. NO sleep for me and especially not my poor, shaking dog. The 4th of July is a fun holiday, but please, leave the fireworks to the professionals.

Sorry, comment time is over.
