West Seattle development: Rowhouse @ ex-church site in Highland Park

(King County Assessor photo)

The new owners of a former church in Highland Park have officially filed to replace it with a residential rowhouse. Until a few months ago, as 1200 SW Holden, it was The Potter’s House, on the northwest corner of 12th SW and SW Holden, across from the Highland Park Improvement Club. Now, with an address change to 7551 12th SW – the site plan on file shows the five units facing 12th – it’s proposed for a five-townhouse rowhouse building. (The church, by the way, has moved to White Center.)

Excellent! A much better use for this piece of property.

Actually not that great in some ways. The property is zoned for commercial. This neighborhood has super limited walkable commercial area, so it’s too bad they can’t do a mixed use or something. We reached out to the developers but got no response.

I do agree that the old hardware store building is nothing to write home about.

Arg- this makes me so sad- what a missed opportunity for the neighborhood. And even worse that they changed the address to 12th- Turning their back on Holden and what’s really needed in  the neighborhood- a walkable commercial core

I agree with Kay K and C’s.  It is really a large missed opportunity for HP.  We really need some commercial places.  You always have to go to each other’s home if you want to catch up with a friend in the neighborhood.  It would be great to have some place to go and hangout.

I was so hoping that someday this building would be a coffee shop…..it would have been a wonderful for Highland park

Sorry, comment time is over.
