UPDATE: ‘Heavy rescue’ callout for Olson/Myers

image

12:13 PM: Big “heavy rescue” callout headed to Olson/Myers – avoid the area for a while. We’re en route to find out more.

12:24 PM: Just arrived in the area – car flipped in outside downhill lane. SFD still on scene. No major injuries reported; no other vehicles involved. Traffic is getting by both ways. This happened atop the exit to NB 99/509 but vehicles are getting around.

Twitter says there was a collision and lanes are subject to closure.

Yeah saw the big helicopter and car flipped over. It was frightening looking. Warm thoughts to all involved.

The helicopter didn’t have anything to do with the crash – it’s from the drill at Terminal 5, which is where we were when we got word of the crash – then over on Myers, we noticed the helicopter we had just seen leaving T-5 was hovering over the Joint Training Facility off Myers – made perfect sense since the drill was led by Seattle Fire, and they run the JTF, though it’s used by many other agencies, often including aerial training. – TR

Is this a common area for accidents? I feel like I’ve read quite a few past reports about Myers Olson.

Yah, but the northbound view is stunning!

I’ve crashed a bunch but only once on Myers way.

Sorry, comment time is over.
