(Added 4:59 am: Photo sent by neighbor)

FIRST REPORT, 4:09 AM: A full Seattle Fire Department response is starting to arrive at an address near 35th and Myrtle, and reporting that they see flames. They’re blocking all lanes of 35th at the scene.

4:16 AM: The fire is described as tapped/”knocked down” but there’s some concern about wires.

4:27 AM: Our crew is on scene and reports that while the address on the 911 log is that of Our Lady of Guadalupe, this fire was in a shed detached structure behind the house on 35th immediately *south* of the church. SFD’s investigator is on the way to try to find out what caused it. No injuries reported.

4:53 AM: SFD is still on scene mopping up. We’ll check back at the scene when it’s more fully light out.

4:59 AM: Top photo added, showing the burned structure engulfed in flames, taken by nearby resident who says, “Very thankful to neighbor who woke us up.”

5:35 AM: We just checked back at the scene. 35th SW is open again. SFD has a crew still on scene protecting against flareups, including putting more foam on a tree to which the flames were spreading before the fire was out.

In our photo, you can see the charred remains of the burned structure behind the chain-link fence. Neighbors say a car was damaged, too.

I hope things turn out OK, seems like a big fire response. The sirens have been going for almost 10 minutes.

Wow WSB. Again and again, information at our tips. Woke up to sirens and my answer was right here. Hope it’s all okay!

Our crew should be arriving at any moment. This is described as a “single-family residence” fire but the dispatch address on the 911 log is Our Lady of Guadalupe – waiting for some clarification of exactly where the fire (reported to be out) is. – Tracy

Some sort of incident on Avalon too right now.

I knew something big was happening because of all the sirens that went past my house. Prayers for the family, I hope everyone got out of the house.

What’s on fire…would be very surprised if a single-family residence with that kind of fire response.

    • WSB June 5, 2016 (4:34 am)

Details are in the story. The fire is out; our crew at the scene was told, and has seen that, it was a shed behind the house. If a fire is *suspected* in any kind of structure with people, whether a single-family house (as in this case) or a commercial/institutional structure, a “full response” is sent (as was the case here). It’s always easier to scale back – as has happened here already – than to add. – TR

Just added a similar photo sent to us by a neighbor. We noted in the early going that the first crews saw flames, and got them out fast. – TR

Did anyone else here a women screaming for 15 minutes around 4:30. Sounded terrible. I live on 30th and holden.

    • WSB June 5, 2016 (5:07 am)

Josh – It wasn’t related to this, but whatever that was, police were on it. I heard some scanner discussion with that screaming in the background. Possibly drug-related, is all I caught.

@Josh and @rick I heard the screaming also, I’m on 24th and Webster by the SW precinct. Couldn’t tell where it was coming from but it was so loud and really freaked me out. I hope she is ok/getting the help she needs.

@SLJ yeah hope she is okay I heard the sirens after I’ve been looking online for some news on it but haven’t seen anything

I was woke up by all of the sirens heading to this this morning.. (corner of Morgan and 35th)… Got a little worried when they stopped so close… Couldn’t tell how far up the street they stopped, but knew it was pretty close.
Glad that it wasn’t a HOUSE fire and the people still have their home and that no one was hurt.

So was this “the convent” (of old) then???

(That might explain the OLG address)
