I’ve been a huge fan of the West Seattle Car Show for years.  I was also a participant in the show at it’s new location last year.  To the organizers (Swedish Automotive)…PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE find a way to bring the show back to the Junction.  I understand that the Farmer’s Market occupies the street on Sundays, but there must be a way to accommodate the car show in the heart of West Seattle.  Although the show benefits the auto technology program at South Seattle Community College, this location is horrible for both participants and spectators alike.  Participants, spectators and local businesses all benefit when the show is held in The Junction…and proceeds can still go to support the auto tech program at SCCC.  Just sayin’.

We appreciate the sentiment to have the show return to the Junction – and we worked to try to make that a reality last year. Unfortunately, it is simply off the table.  The street is promised to someone else on Sundays and Saturdays are not even an option. We realized that we needed to find a new location or let it die – it’s really that simple. We were encouraged by the turnout last year after an extremely short period of time to plan for the move – especially with weather that was less than stellar.

We do hope that you will support our efforts to continue to improve the West Seattle Car Show at South Seattle College – there are many advantages to the location there, including a large, safe area to walk around, excellent sound system for the DJ, live music, tours of several programs at the college, and more! We want to support our community and give West Seattle this annual car show for us all to participate in and enjoy and are talking to sponsors and vendors right now to have even more diverse things to do and see as well as all of the fantastic cars and trucks (and motorcycles)!

Also, as with any large scale production, we could always use volunteers, too!

Thank you for your comments and hopefully see you on a sunny Saturday, Aug. 27th!

Maybe get a couple food trucks to come out also?

Please don’t schedule it at the same time the Seahawks play.

Can we bring a modern day hot rods to this show, or is this still old school ?

  • Todd May 12, 2016 (9:11 am)

We are soliciting food trucks right now – we hope that some with ties to WS would be interested!

We made the decision to schedule the show earlier and on a Saturday this year – specifically so it will no longer interfere with Seahawks games or NFL in general. Traditionally, it has been the Sunday following Labor Day – this year it’s the Saturday BEFORE Labor Day on Aug 27th!

We welcome all makes and models and we have added categories to accommodate (we think!) a class for every entry – there are 20 separate trophy categories now!

Initially excited to participate (and enter my ’71 Datsun).  Then I read this:  “Further, I hereby consent to allow my picture or likeness to appear in any
official document, news release, photographic portraits, or pictures, video tape or film of me… any other similar lawful purposes whatsoever…

    How disappointing.

Z, I suspect that’s a standard disclaimer from fine print that’s been on forms like this since the dawn of time. Probably not even relevant any more since we are in the age of everyone getting photographed everywhere in public places. What in particular are you concerned about? I’m sure the show sponsors would want to know. – TR
