TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Wednesday alerts; third night of bridge closures

(SDOT MAP with travel times/video links; is the ‘low bridge’ closed? LOOK HERE)

6:21 AM: Good morning! More sunshine, and so far, no incidents in/from West Seattle.

OVERNIGHT BRIDGE CLOSURE #3: Tonight is scheduled to be the third night that the west end of the West Seattle Bridge will close, 9 pm-5 am, for the Fauntleroy Expressway seismic-cushion-re-replacement project. You might notice the closure – requiring, among other things, bridge exiting at or before Delridge – if you’re returning from …

STADIUM CONCERT: Stadium-zone traffic alert – superstar Beyoncé performs at CenturyLink Field tonight (7:30 pm).

LOOKING AHEAD – “BIKE EVERYWHERE DAY” FRIDAY: Friday is Bike Everywhere Day (Cascade Bicycle Club‘s new name for what used to be “Bike to Work Day”), and riders will find a “celebration station” in the usual spot on the path west of the low bridge.

LOOKING AHEAD – WEST SEATTLE 5K SUNDAY: Sunday, Alki Avenue will be closed until late morning for the West Seattle 5K (with co-sponsors including WSB) run/walk. Tomorrow’s your last chance to sign up online, or do it at West Seattle Runner (2743 California SW; WSB sponsor) noon-6 pm Saturday or at the start line 8 am Sunday.

Oh boy. Hopefully my house doesn’t shake apart until midnight like the last concert.

Wonder when dot will fix the Charlestown cam.  Stuck on night for 2 days.

Be careful out there cyclists.  The same metro van share rider grazed my shoulder today on the ride with his city vehicle and then “dive bombed me 2 blocks later.  This occurred heading north on Alaskan way, just as you emerge from under the viaduct, where they are doing construction.  He tried so squeeze by as you go over the orange road covers as you make the first turn.  Keep your head up and be safe out there.  And motorists (as I am one some days too) please be careful and considerate, everyone hates these construction zones.

Not sure what it is about thise vans but I see a lot of driving issues all around metro Seattle. Sorry this happened to you and thanks for the reminder for everyone to be considerate and careful.

Will signals be re-timed by SDOT at 35th & Fauntleroy and 35th & Avalon for the night time detours?  We came through last night around 9:30 and there was a back up on Fauntleroy by Taco Time trying to turn south on 35th, probably due to people trying to turn left at Avalon but having to yield to northbound 35th traffic.  Methinks a few tweaks are in order over the coming months!  Or per typical SDOT, they won’t do anything about it.

Please call that in to 206-684-ROAD. Trust me from having asked some of the questions about “do you really intend to start this concurrent with the viaduct closure?” if you don’t ask, they might not have thought about it.

Sorry, comment time is over.
