West Seattle Crime Watch followup: More windows targeted

Last night, we reported on vandalism in Gatewood, a car window apparently shot out by BBs. Since then, via comments and e-mail, we’ve heard of more window vandalism. For one, Aaron sent the photo at right, from the 4000 block of 21st SW on Pigeon Point:

He said, “Sometime between 8 and 10 (Sunday) three windows on the driver’s side of my truck (including canopy) were shot out by a BB gun. They also did quite a bit of body and paint damage to the side of the truck, I think they hit it about 15 times. Just wanted people to be on the lookout for idiots driving around with a BB gun wrecking other people’s stuff.”

Commenters reported incidents in areas including:
-7700 block 32nd SW
-Genesee (house window)
-4000 block 26th SW
-5600 block 26th SW

Via e-mail, Joellie reported that the rear glass was broken out of her purple PT Cruiser between 2 pm and 7 pm today in the 7300 block of 35th SW [map]. She says it’s the second time in a year it’s happened to her vehicle.

And just as we were finishing this, Sean left a comment on last night’s story, saying someone shot at their window in Seaview, 45th and Findlay, about two hours ago. If you see or hear anything potentially related, please call 911 right away – and get as good a description as you can.

We saw a an older white truck driven drive menacingly behind a cyclist and then shoot at the him with a BB gun last night at 26th SW and Alaska. I believe he was hit but kept riding up 26th.    We made a police report.  This was at about 7 PM.

I was the cyclist that got hit by the pellets while riding up 26th on Tuesday night.   I got hit several times and when I turned around I saw a young man with leaning out the window with his pellet gun.  Most of the pellets hit my backpack, but the one that hit skin stung and left a pretty good welt.  Thank you for reporting it to the police.  I would have done the same, but I was running late and didn’t have time to stop.

        Sorry – I made a mistake – it was Monday night..not Tuesday.

I would like to keep my eye out, make and model?

Missed the article yesterday… Surprised no mention of Delridge anywhere. Driving home Sunday night around 7pm we saw at least four vehicles with broken windows/glass on the west side of the street between Kenyon and Trenton

Hi, JB. Haven’t heard from anyone on Delridge. We’ll certainly add any we hear from. The police report log only showed a few “property damage” cases and those were ones we’d already heard about – again, everyone, please file reports! – TR

I happened to be walking in Gatewood on Sunday afternoon between 4:30 and 5:15, and passed by the scene mentioned by Ron in the first report. I do recall seeing a white pick-up in the area a few minutes earlier. I had just exited the park heading west, then I turned north and walked along 37th. It came from behind me and also turned north onto 37th. Didn’t get the make and model, or note anything about the occupant(s), but I did notice that is was driving pretty fast. The only other vehicle I recall seeing was a small red pick-up heading south on 37th, also driving fast. One of the two vehicles had a rather loud engine – sorry, that I can’t recall which one. Both vehicles seemed intent on disrupting the quiet of the neighborhood on what was otherwise a peaceful afternoon.

Thank you for stopping to speak with me. Soon after your visit, I noticed a white pickup that stopped to speak with a neighbor up the street. He was watching me intently and seemed to be laughing at either what the neighbor was saying or at me. I found that to be odd as I wouldn’t laugh at seeing broken windows. I never thought about it again until the white pickup was identified by a few people. That person was driving a  90’s white Dodge ram truck raised with a grill guard. I have provided a pic of that is similar to what I saw. It may be a coincidence but worth mentioning.

Does anyone know what kind of images the survey cameras(?) that are used by city employees capture? There have been quite a few out in Sunrise Heights the past couple days, wondering if they could be of any help here.

Ron, you’re very welcome. I felt bad to see what had happened.  If I can be of any help in making the case against these guys more solid, let me know. WSB knows how to reach me and I’ll also keep an eye on this discussion thread.

For what it’s worth,  I just talked to our friend/neighbor who told me their car, parked on Willow between 37th SW & 38th SW was vandalized last night—windows on the side facing towards the street smashed.

Thanks. I’m still waiting to hear back from the precinct on whether they’ve tied these all together, and if there is a common description. Also, haven’t heard of any more today, so far – please comment or e-mail editor@westseattleblog.com with any reports … TR

We had someone shoot a BB gun at our living room window in genessee hill that day at 6:15pm  police came around and are looking into it. We gave them a surveillance video showing an older, probably whitish pickup truck with a guy in a cowboy hat in the passenger seat. Hope they get these guys

My boyfriend’s car was one of those on 26th with the window shot out. I discovered it at 8am Monday morning. I reported it to the police and while they were there taking the report they said there were two more cars down the street. There was a white Impala parked on 26th and Alaska and then a block north there was a red car with the two driver side windows shot out. So sorry to the guy who was shot while riding his bike. I hope they catch these losers soon.

I forgot to mention that we are in the 5000 block of 26th Ave SW.

Sorry, comment time is over.
