UPDATE: Comcast trouble wasn’t just in West Seattle

8:31 AM: No official acknowledgment yet but reports of a Comcast outage are increasingly widespread. First we heard from A. south of Admiral, then from Cami on Alki, Teresa in Gatewood, Noodle in Morgan, and we’re having trouble in Upper Fauntleroy. Anybody else?

8:50 AM: Comcast is responding to multiple complaints (not just in this region) via its @comcastcares account, to which its @comcastwa account is referring people. The basic reply line: “We are working on restoring this as fast as possible.”

8:56 AM: Maybe a relatively short outage, though widespread (usually they’re fairly localized) – some are reporting it’s back.

ADDED 7:54 PM: As suggested in comments, seems the trouble was in multiple areas around the country, not just here.

My parents are having issues and they are in Fauntleroy/Arbor Heights.  they said they can’t get any channels above 100 and the screen is frozen.

I was here in Highland Park, but it seems to be sorting itself out. Didn’t have anything above channel 32 at 8am, up to 272 now.

Same on the East Coast. Many channels out in Savannah GA. Can’t log onto the Comcast website to find out what’s going on.

Genessee Hill – Comcast TV out but internet working fine.

    • SomeGuy February 15, 2016 (8:48 am)

Just started working again for us.

  • Brittany February 15, 2016 (8:45 am)

We’ve been having troubles in north Admiral, too. Hopefully a fix is on the way.

Internet is working but no cable channels.  Located in Junction.

My comcast is out – can’t get them on their web site nor via the telephone.  I live in High Point

Is no TV such a bad thing? Other than paying for it.

  • Dave the Platypus February 15, 2016 (9:02 am)

Admiral Junction – cable has been out since 7:38 AM, but business Internet is still working.  2-800 numbers for Comcast are out as well, and their web site is incredibly slow to respond.  Plus, after logging in with my personal account data, the web site identifies me as a Business customer (not on that account) but doesn’t know my name.

Pretty safe bet they have some serious problems…

That’s the main reason we mentioned it – usually if we get a note or a tweet from someone about Comcast, it turns out to be relatively neighborhood-specific, but when reports come in from multiple areas, that escalates it to a mention, at least for the “oh, it’s not just us” factor. They’re still busily replying to tweets at https://twitter.com/comcastcares/with_replies … TR

Highland Park/S. Delridge; internet and TV (Ch 13, at least) have been fine all morning.

Just able to log onto Comcast. They have posted:

“We’re working to make your experience even better.

An update is currently underway and what you’re trying to access isn’t available right now. We’ll have everything back up and running in just a few hours, so please try back later or call us at 855-739-1722. Thanks for your understanding as we work to make this the best customer experience possible.”

Why can’t they do this at night?????????????????

    • Art February 15, 2016 (9:29 am)

Just came up in Savannah, GA. Hope yours is ok on the West Coast.

    • Mark February 15, 2016 (9:52 am)

It’s possible that the maintenance/upgrade started at night and continued into the morning if they hit issues.  Or, they’re trying to roll back the maintenance and ran into problems with that.

Although.. that could just be a default message that’s posted whenever something’s broke :-)

Outage started around 11:20am EST here. I was in the middle of a tv show that I wanted to see. That would have been around 8:20am your time. In spite of their website saying it was a system update their twitter page is saying it was a trouble outage. Can’t get a straight answer out of them.

They are not responding to Twitter inquiries.

We have DirecTV and we’ve been having issues as well. They tried to troubleshoot the issue over the phone last night, but no luck. Tech is coming to the house today. Don’t know if it’s related to the Comcast outage, though…

  • ClayJustSayin February 15, 2016 (11:22 am)

Antenna TV doesn’t have these problems.  Maybe not so many shows, but then you don’t have to pay for a 80 channels of nothing.  I thank the powers that be that I don’t have Comcast any longer.  I LOVE not having Comcast.

  • Dr. Bob February 15, 2016 (12:01 pm)

Cut the cable and live free!

    Comcast is the WORST!

So happy to be free of these nitwits.

  • JanS February 15, 2016 (12:25 pm)

actually, you’re not alone…they are/were having problems all over the country. Read a book :) Sleep in. Go for a walk :)

    • JanS February 15, 2016 (12:26 pm)

would be so nice to have city broadband, wouldn’t it?

  • Dr. Bob February 15, 2016 (3:43 pm)

As if city broadband would be trouble free.

Bureaucrats and politicians are good for one thing: making a problem a bigger problem.

    • AMD February 15, 2016 (7:25 pm)

My city light, city water, city sewer, and city garbage are all a million times more reliable than Comcast or CenturyLink.  Unfortunately high speed internet is necessary for many people so even without TV we’re stuck with one or the other for the time being.

Sorry, comment time is over.
