UPDATE: ‘Fire in building’ response on Beach Drive

12:09 PM: Seattle Fire has sent a major “fire in building” response to the 3800 block of Beach Drive SW. Updates to come.

12:15 PM: It’s a four-story multifamily building, and that’s the reason for the big response, but so far, per scanner, no sign of a fire – aside from one in a fireplace (added: Christmas tree was being burned). The response is being downsized.

Definitely a good 10 minutes worth of sirens going down Admiral.

Just had the Heavy Rescue truck, an Engine and a Medic one head down Morgan St… two engines North up 35th Ave SW just prior.. Hope everyone got out ok and the Fire Fighters stay safe.

Yikes, a christmas tree would probably have enough sap and still be wet enough to leave a lot of deposits on a chimney. Better to leave the tree curbside for composting than to insta-CO2 it.

We saw the responders and are happy to hear it wasn’t anything bad, but Christmas tree burning in a fireplace when there’s a burn ban? Hmmm

Sorry, comment time is over.
