HAPPENING NOW: Lights, camera, Santa! Photo time and food drive at Menashe Family Christmas Lights

(WSB photos, updated 9 pm: Above, Santa & Menashe granddaughters Makenna and Angelica)
What could be more Christmasy than Santa photos at West Seattle’s brightest light show? Until 10 pm, “Santa Al” is making his annual stop at the Menashe Family Christmas Lights – bring a nonperishable food item for the West Seattle Food Bank and take a photo that’ll be bursting with holiday festiveness. Yes, the weather’s a little wild, but there’s a canopy for photo protection!

5605 Beach Drive SW.

The Menashe house looked nice, as always, but do no other people do lights anymore? I just drove down beach drive and it seemed like barely anybody put up a single string, except for the one house. Maybe times are changing.

Alex – Speaking as someone who would usually have Christmas lights up by now, I’ve been watching that trend too, and would suggest that the weather has been somewhat unconducive. Too few weekend days without rain and/or wind. But depending on which way you drove on Beach Drive – we were on it twice tonight, Alki to Lowman to Alki to Lowman, and saw more than a few. Here on California south of Morgan Junction, and on Gatewood side streets, too. And the Admiral streets east of WSHS are representing. – TR

Will Santa be at the Menashe Family’s on Dec. 19th, Saturday? I saw on the blog it said the 20th, but I’m thinking that was a typo.

    Thanks for clarifying.
