Your time, everyone’s river: Sign up now for Duwamish Alive!

Those are the sites where you can help Seattle’s only river by giving a few hours of your time to be part of this fall’s edition of Duwamish Alive! – one week from tomorrow, 10 am-2 pm on Saturday, October 17th. Organizers would love to hear from you ASAP, so use this list to choose one of the sites on the map – which include five in West Seattle – and sign up.

One practice I can do on a daily basis miles away from the Duwamish while out and about is when I see trash pick it up. This rain that we are under today all of it is draining directly to out falls along the shoreline of Puget Sound and the Duwamish. I spent a couple hours with a individual local here in West Seattle who has personally logged in many many hrs accessing the shorline of the Duwamish by kayak to collect debris. The event going on “Duwamish Alive” is great that organizers have put together but the action to protect our local waters is also here on the concrete you and I walk upon daily. Please do not litter your cigarette butts onto the ground the likely hood that it will be washed away into the Duwamish or the sound is pretty high just look at all the rain falling this am right now. We can all do our part everyday which can amount to a lot over time.

Sorry, comment time is over.
