UPDATE: Guardian One helicopter in the area (twice)

11:43 PM: Don’t know yet what has brought Guardian One back to West Seattle tonight but it’s helping with a search in the Southwest Athletic Complex/Chief Sealth IHS vicinity. More as we figure it out.

12:00 AM: Guardian One left shortly after that update; scanner traffic indicated police had been searching for (at least) three suspects and found two.

12:30 AM: Tweets by Beat finally has the initial classification on the call – robbery. Notable considering there was a robbery about 24 hours earlier in Roxhill Park, as noted here; no helicopter for that one because it wasn’t reported until later, when the victim made it home a few miles away.

7:24 AM: Comments mention G-1 back in the area in the 2 am hour, this time further south. The helicopter crew subsequently tweeted: “Assisted KCSO Deputies on search for subject who ran from traffic stop and possible unreported stolen car.”

Thanks, Moohar. we *think* it was a robbery call but not entirely certain yet.

I am one over from the apts and I heard a man yelling @ 11:17pm it was in spanish so I have no idea what he said but it sounded like he was yelling to someone while running. I will post if I hear anything else.

Busy night for the police on the edge of White Center. Just heard sirens screaming down Roxbury.

Don’t know where these are going either, probably the same two that just roared eastbound down Thistle. Scanner can be hit/miss because some calls are sent directly to in-car monitors from dispatchers, which for us makes community tips all the more vital. Anyway, no medical calls with any of these, so at least injuries are not involved so far …

G1 back in the area, 2 am over arbor heights-shorewood-wc

  • Cait September 13, 2015 (2:09 am)

Two SPD squad cars just raced past our place in North Shorewood (strange as we usually only see King County here) – and Guardian One (or similar) is circling right above our house.

The helicopter was overhead in the vicinity of Shorewood Park (21st-24th and 100th-106th) for c. 30 minutes (or more?) from 2.00am onwards. There was also a large police presence with multiple vehicles at the intersection of 21st Ave SW and SW 100th St. Would love to know what was going on.

At 12:30 am 3 police cars went flying past our house on Glenn way (near the juction). Lived here 10 years, police and aid units go past a lot but never seen them go so fast. Headed towards the Junction.

Heard about that, and also a couple cars went full code past here on Thistle, but no major incidents related to either that we ever heard of … police also have “fast backup” calls that get handled before some of the backups ever reach the destination, so they start full lights/sirens and then are told along the way to slow down, everything’s under control. Also since SW Precinct handles South Park, cars seen rushing south/eastbound are headed that way on occasion.

Sorry, comment time is over.
