UPDATE: Squirrel stuck in Junction store

5:29 PM: For more than a day now, according to two reports we’ve received, at least one squirrel has been inside Terjung’s House of Gifts in The Junction, visible through the window. The two people who’ve mentioned it – including the one who just texted the photo – say they couldn’t figure out any way to track down the store’s owners, even via neighboring business owners. So we’re publishing this in hopes maybe someone who reads it will know and be able to alert them (or will have some other idea of what to do).

5:47 PM: Thanks to Wendy, who says in comments: “I just called them & they are aware. They tried to catch him this morning, then put a catch/release trap in the store and plan to check on it after dinner.”

Poor squirrel! We had one in the garage a few days ago and left a door open all night so it could find its way out. I hope someone let’s the poor guy out.

I had a squirrel in my house once several years ago – I tried the catch and release trap – wouldn’t take the bait..

I left the deck door open one day and it left while I was away.

They can be very destructive – the squirrel tried chewing through the wood work around the window in the kitchen and the family room. I was alerted to in the house when it was throwing itself against the kitchen window trying to get out. I’m sure he felt threatened by the 2 cats I had at the time, they actually never showed any interest in him at all.

When I found a squirrel in my Christmas tree I used a catch and release trap baited with peanut butter. It worked!

In this day and age, how can you have a public business without allowing the public to easily contact you, via email or phone?

The shop has a phone – one came up just now when I googled it – but it was closed when the two people who contacted us spotted the situation, around 6:45 last night, and then today.
