Volleyball player in the house? Visiting pros’ free clinic for youth

(Texted photo: NVL truck at Alki Beach)

The professional beach-volleyball players coming to Alki for the National Volleyball League‘s Seattle Championships the next three days have a gift for local youth – a free clinic Sunday afternoon. It’s open to young players 6-18 years old; just register here, and then check in at the tournament-info tent at 12:45 pm Sunday for the 1-2:30 pm clinic.

As for the tournament – it’s the 7th of 8 stops on the pro tour this year, and the Alki schedule is here.

Speaking of VB~~Hiawatha Community Center’s 2015 VB season is just a few weeks away from tip-off and more players are needed.
Although it’s open to both species, there has yet to be a boy brave enough to play with the girls.
The three age groups are: 10-11, 12-13 & 14-17, with up to twelve girls on a team that runs through Thanksgiving.
At present they’re needing a lot more girls to fill the rosters, especially the 10-11’s (who I hear have a pretty great coach!), so please tell anyone you know who has a daughter (or brave son) who you think might be interested in playing to contact Hiawatha CC right away.
The girls have a great time, make some great friends & memories and a number of them continue on to play in middle and high school. I know of a few who are/did play in college, with a couple of VB scholarships in the mix.
Help our local community center help to Bump, Set & Spike our local kids into a better future…!

Sorry, comment time is over.
