2015 ELECTION: Third round of primary results out – Herbold’s lead over Braddock widens

If you were waiting for the third round of primary-election results – it’s in. For Seattle City Council District 1 (Seattle/South Park), Lisa Herbold‘s lead over Shannon Braddock has widened to more than 300 votes. Phillip Tavel is a relatively distant third:

Herbold – 30.07% – 4870 votes
Braddock – 27.97% – 4530 votes
Tavel – 18.07% – 2926 votes

Top two go to the November general-election ballot. We’ll be adding more results-update notes shortly.

I guess the fact that so many of our neighbors didn’t vote means that they are perfectly fine with whomever gets in. If they have issues and didn’t vote, that’s their problem; And it’s so easy to vote in the state of WA compared to other states, there’s no excuse for complexity or even time.

Well, DW, you are bound to be disappointed with the results if you voted based on their looks.

@lindsey – It’s not looks, it’s perspective. Generalizations can be dangerous, but nonetheless it’s how we understand the world around us.

Respectfully- nine of our neighbors made sacrifices to run over the past months and years; hoping to improve things for West Seattle and Southpark. Many worked full time jobs while running, all filed the same finance reports, and in some cases have similar dollars-per-vote rates as the top 3. We can get the full results from the county site, but personally I think updated vote totals from all 9 candidates belong on these posts. Thank you to all the candidates, and to the WSB for informative coverage.

DD, I did that for the first couple days and we were the only local media outlet consistently and thoroughly covering all 9 throughout the campaign. We even hosted the first forum. We continued treating all 9 equally even when some forums, like the one in SP, didn’t include all 9 candidates! We believe if you file to run, you deserve to be treated the same as others. However, the results are not changing now (if the third place person were closer, we would include them, but it’s extremely unlikely that gap will close) and more to the point, we are having terrible technical trouble right now – I’m waiting in a repair shop as I answer you here as my keyboard is refusing to type about 10 key letters of the alphabet without being pummeled – my phone also has broken, and our e-mail account is having a server issue. This is all I could do and we provide links where you can quite easily find the rest. I didn’t even get the opportunity to go back last night and add the other races’ top twos, as I’d hoped to. Thanks. – TR

did any of you writers re: disappointing voter results consider running yourselves? it’s wortth consideration. “Be the change you wish to see”

As reported on Public Radio and other news outlets, it is interesting that the election results show Seattle largely rejected the so called ‘NIMBY candidates’ while shifting left overall to candidates with political experience.
This appears true here in West Seattle where an established ‘lefty’ now leads.

Lisa’s radio interview/attack on the owners of New Bauhaus Apartments in Morgan Junction abruptly lead me to change my vote to Shannon.
But that was just the primary.
I remain open to both front runners.
