West Seattle scene: Shooting shoes at Seacrest

If you’ve been to Seacrest today and noticed the photography crew … including support RVs along Harbor Avenue to the east … here’s what’s up: After getting a tip from Sunny, we headed over for a look. It’s a photo shoot for Timberland Shoes. A crew member told us the bicycles in our photo are among the props and also mentioned they’ll be shooting tomorrow at nearby Don Armeni (where “no parking” signs are already up).

jeez; this story title freaked me out; all I saw was “shooting” at Seacrest; would sure like to eliminate “shoot” “shooting” language related to film industry and filming

Diane, it comes as no surprise that someone who would eliminate our 2nd amendment rights would also like to place limitations on speech.

“Shooting” a photo or film has been the terminology since the dawn of photography. But I guess your feelings out weight the facts.

Language opinions are welcome and sometimes help us realize our choice of words might not be the best. I’ve made changes based on comments before. In this case, though, while I understand why seeing the word could cause a double-take, “shooting” does apply to actions that have nothing to do with guns – besides photography, there are uses such as “shoot me a note about that” – and this just seemed to be the word that fit. – TR

There is a lot of jargon in TV and film production. A chunk of it came from veterans who had worked in army media production units using there skills in civilian production after the war.

It startled me at first too, because sadly, shootings of the other sort are in the news a hell of a lot more these days. Probably because folks like @John Moses Browing carry guns. Now how does that feel to be lumped into a category based on one tiny comment, John? I mean, since @Diane (according to you) is the woman who wants to take your rights away and limit your free speech?
    Jeesh… simmer…down…now.

I saw “shooting shoes” and imagined a contraption something like a potato gun.
