HELICOPTERS: Why Guardian One was (briefly) over Gatewood/Sunrise Heights; why a TV helicopter is over Admiral

helicopterwatch.png11:46 AM: Our area’s only law-enforcement helicopter unit, King County Air Support (Guardian One), spent a few minutes over Gatewood/Sunrise Heights a short time ago, and now we know why. They tweeted that they happened to be in the area, so jumped in to help Seattle Police with a response to a situation described as a “fight” in the 3700 block of SW Webster. According to a neighbor, also via Twitter, police are still there, but they’ve said the situation is under control. When a Guardian One pilot/tactical flight officer spoke to the West Seattle Block Watch Captains’ Network last month (WSB coverage here), they mentioned that they do monitor emergency radio while they’re in flight, and if they happen to be in the area of an emergency call, they might turn up even without having been requested, so that’s what happened here.

11:51 AM: Unrelated but also involving a helicopter over West Seattle, and also bringing in texted questions – the KING/KOMO-shared TV helicopter is in the Admiral area right now because the governor of Alaska is visiting the Polar Pioneer oil rig at Terminal 5.

We walked past the incident at 3700 Webster.
    Several SPD vehicles responded.
A construction worker reported being confronted by an angry neighbor as the driver temporarily blocked Webster Street while off-loading an excavator.
He told us that while the neighbor was confronting the worker and provoking a fight, a woman with children walked by, became alarmed and called 911 to report a fight.

Apparently no actual blows were delivered as the police departed leaving both the worker and the angry neighbor to remain on their sides of the street as we walked on.
The worker reported this type of harassment was an all too common and unfortunate element of doing construction work, with Restraining Orders sometimes required.
Being a neighbor, we are aware of the several disputes over this infill development of two large parcels formerly with two small houses into three new homes with one existing house being remodeled.

So actually there driver was blocking driveways at first they laborer left alone at their site by then GC/owner was politely asked to back then truck up away from three driveway. As usual they rudely rebuffed and then pulled forward to a block a second driveway even further from their site. Then they driver got out and got belligerent and threatened to smash in their neighbors head with a large hammer he retrieved from behind them truck seat.Thos is a large truck with a roll off on it they where setting down. The issue is their GC has no respect for any of the nieghbors and is always blocking driveways, traffic and his works on site are parking all over our street in front of are homes so no one can even park when they get home or have friends visit. All the other issues are separate from the ones stated here . His permitting and such is the concern of others. IMO he should try to work with us more.Heis just here to flip 2 homes and be gone so he does not care if he is a nuisence to all who live here. We put up with the noise until 9 -10 pm. The huge dump trucks racing in and out stacked up on the street and all the other issues.

Sorry, comment time is over.
