Congrats! National championship for West Seattle’s ‘Archer Addy’

It’s been a while since our last update on West Seattle’s “Archer Addy,” who’s been notching archery achievements for a long time despite her young age. Erik and Tracy Nachtrieb shared this news:

11-year-old Addison “Archer Addy” Nachtrieb, a Schmitz Park Elementary student, won the NFAA 3D National Archery Championship and she was awarded the highest-scoring female of all age groups for the second year in a row. This year she also set the NFAA National scoring record for her age division, the last record being held for 10 years.

After 21 total hours of shooting over 3 days, in 90F+ weather, and after shooting a 6-hour Pro-AM the day before the three day National Tournament, Addy held it together over miles of rugged terrain and hills along the shooting course to only drop 7 points! Addy shot 1533 out of a perfect score of 1540! An amazing feat for an 11-year-old.

Addy has been shooting for 3 years and logs over 18,000 practice arrows a year. She recently placed 3rd in the World Archery Festival, 4th in the US Indoor National Championships, has had a book written about her first year in archery, and has recently been brought on as Pro Staff for ArcherZUpshot.

Wow, that is a fantastic accomplishment. Big congrats to Archer Addy! Next stop: the Olympics?

That is amazing. Well done! If the targets are the same as the 3d targets I’ve shot at, a lot of them have an amazingly small bulls eye. Very impressive!

Fantastic! What an amazing accomplishment! Plus she is a published author as well. Goes to show what hard work and dedication will get you. Congratulations Addy!

Great work! Makes West Seattle proud. And makes me want to go get a bow and start trying this out in my backyard.

Awesome achievement! Is there a place nearby to learn/practice archery like a safe indoor archery range?

Yet another incredible kid representing West Seattle. My friend Hayden Beaty was the illustrator for Archer Addy books and I bought a book solely on the fact this was about one of our own residents. I know nothing about archery but this is so exciting. Your parents must be so proud of you sweetie.

Wow, that’s incredible! Congratulations Addison, looking forward to watching you in the Olympics one day!

Ok, updating this post since I came across this https://youtu.be/7c_klLbW5Ug

Addison, you’re so awesome. Epic video.

Our daughter got interested in archery a couple of years ago after getting introduced while on a vacation. Her interest waned, however, when we couldn’t find a single place for her to practice anywhere near West Seattle. Is there a range nearby? We haven’t gotten rid of the equipment and would love to start up again!

Good questions stringcheese. I am also waiting for answers.
Where does one go to take children s beginner classes?
Where does one to go train in/near WS?

    WAY TO GO ADDISON!

Mountlake Terrace, Nock Point Archery, has a beautiful indoor range. Not too far from WS.
Also try the Kenmore Gun Range.
They had an excellent outdoor archery range many years ago but not sure about now.
Seattle Parks Dept. had one a long time ago at Carkeek Park but I believe that was removed many years ago for liability concerns. Too bad the Seattle Parks Department doesn’t support archery, as this is a great sport for all ages.

    Hi,

Thank you for the congratulations and support in my archery. Thank you. I shoot compound and re-curve style bows. I shoot compound in competitions. I will be shooting re-curve soon too. I want to go to the Olympics in re-curve and the World Championships in compound. In a couple years I am going to try and get on the USA Archery team. I am too young now.

Yes, the 3D targets have a small spot to hit. It takes lots of practice.

There are a lot of places to shoot, but not any in Seattle. It makes it hard for me to train. I am looking for a place indoors with 50 yards to shoot like an empty warehouse in Seattle or something. If you know a place let me know. Thanks.

I am a Staff Shooter at The Nock Point in Mt. Lake Terrace. They can help you with anything to do with archery. Next to The Nock Point is Next Step Archery. That is an archery school where I teach some times. I just helped teach archery to some West Seattle Girl Scouts the other day at NSA. You can go there and rent a bow and learn how to shoot. Everyone is very cool there and will help you with all kinds of stuff. http://www.nextsteparchery.com

If you are coming up tell me at ArcherAddy@gmail.com and we can shoot together.

Archery is really awesome for girls and for kids. I wrote a book with my parents about when I first started in Archery. You can find it on Amazon.com its called Archer Addy. Hayden drew the pictures in it and he is a West Seattle kid too. Oh, and I will be talking about archery, the book and showing my bow at the Morgan Junction Community Festival, June 20th.

    Thank you,
    Addy
