West Seattle Crime Watch: 1 injured in early-morning Alki shooting

1:19 PM SUNDAY: Finally just confirmed some information about a shooting on Alki early today. Usually, a shooting leads to an “assault with weapons” Seattle Fire callout and that’s our first hint; this one didn’t, and no texts had come in (206-293-6302 any time!), so we’ve been trying to reach police for info, after a couple of e-mail questions came in later in the morning. It happened around 1:30 am in the Alki SW/Marine vicinity. People heard gunfire, multiple shots, including uphill in Admiral. No victim was found at the scene – but hours later, we just confirmed with Seattle Police, they were notified by Everett Police that a victim had shown up at an Everett hospital with a leg wound. No other details of circumstances, so far.

11 AM MONDAY: SPD Blotter has just published an item about this. We have received video of the incident from a witness and will be publishing that shortly in a separate followup.

I thought that was gun fire I heard this morning. Wish the cretins would stop putting people in danger over their problems! Need in an area where innocent people can’t be hurt, like in jail where you belong!

Maybe the victim had some time to reflect on his choice of comrades during his long ambulance ride.

Alki might be a lost cause. Captain Wilske (before he was promoted), and Mayor Murray haven’t given me much hope for this area via our correspondences. I mean we get a short mention, and a sparse handful of commenters – for a shooting.

Seems the shootings/bass cars/motorcycle gangs/3am street races will forever be a ‘part’ of Alki. Who can blame the perpetrators – there’s virtually no police presence down here. No consequences. Even in the summertime – you might see a squad car parked across the street from Duke’s – but the officers are usually soaking up the sun whilst the miscreants run amok.

blast country music, the people that cause most of the issues will leave.

Country’s so popular, I don’t know that it would scare away much of anybody any more. (Except me.)

In history, alki has always been the wild wild west Seattle. I lived on the north shore for 4 years, loved it, but moved away because of all the reasons scubafrog brought up. Still think west Seattle is best Seattle.

Why on earth would someone who got injured on Alki go all the way to Everett to seek medical care???

Gate the Boat Ramps off. Post 2 cop cars in there with about 10 live dash cams to cover the whole area. Make sure they have adequate magnification and focus to clearly identify the tykes if they decide to come in and play. Why? Because as soon as one of these little darlings gets seriously hurt “drifting” and drunk, the city will eat MASSIVE liability for the resulting brain trauma/quad case. Where the hell is Risk Management and Loss Control on this? The City has the underwriting practices of a horse’s ass. Who pays? Us.

Sorry, comment time is over.
