Safety alert: Tree topples near bus stop south of The Junction

Thanks to Cindi for the photo – that tree along the west side of California SW toppled this afternoon, taking some of the surrounding pavement with it, so if you are walking along that part of the street south of The Junction this evening, be careful. Since her photo, a tree crew has been on the scene and, we confirmed with a quick trip that way, turned the branches and trunk into chunks, currently piled between the surviving trees. The pavement in this tree’s vicinity still looks a little precarious.

Oh well. Too many people, not enough trees.

Will the other trees be checked out?

Hard to keep a big tree from toppling when it’s roots can’t get a nice grab on the concrete and pavement. Glad nobody was hurt.

Has it cleared yet? Was planning going down that way to the DMV for annual vehicle licensing this morning. Hope no one was hurt or any vehicle was damage from the falling tree.

“Is it the tree or a person at the crosswalk?” Now I’ll know it’s not the tree. VISIBILITY improved.

I was in Rite aid when the tree was struck by a passing large box truck. The tree had visible damage where the truck hit it and the tree was leaning. Employees had a customer move their car that was parked nearby.

Someone should use the wood from this special tree for something artistic in front of Rite Aid. That tree was a good friend to those at the bus stop. :(

Sorry, comment time is over.
