Capt. Pierre Davis returning to lead Southwest Precinct, West Seattle Block Watch Captains Network told

(WSB photo from January 2014)
Seems the Southwest Precinct is a place you just don’t leave forever. Its next commander, like two of its past three commanders, will be a Seattle Police leader who has spent time at the precinct before. That’s according to what the West Seattle Block Watch Captains Network heard tonight from Operations Lt. Ron Smith, who told them his predecessor in that role, Capt. Pierre Davis, will return from the East Precinct to take over the SW Precinct in the aftermath of Steve Wilske‘s promotion to Assistant Chief.

Capt. Davis was SW Precinct operations lieutenant (second in command) for more than three years, and then served briefly in early 2014 as acting SW Precinct commander before Wilske’s arrival, which in turn followed Capt. Joe Kessler‘s second stint here, following 2 1/2 years at the helm for Capt. Steve Paulsen. … A formal citywide announcement of changes is pending. Lt. Smith told the Block Watch Captains it was fitting they be among the first to find out, given their volunteer service in keeping local neighborhoods safe. Their meeting also included a briefing on the new SW Precinct bicycle unit and tips on staying safe from cybercrime – we’ll write up that part of the meeting later.

I like it, he knows our community and the issues we are dealing with.

Well I can tell you how unimpressed I am Alki Girl. I think this guy is worthless.

I couple years back 3 teenagers tried to break into my house while my wife was home. They did the knock at the front door thing, and my wife didn’t answer (I’ve told her since then that she even if she doesn’t open a door, she needs to let the people know that someone is home).

These punks then went to our back window and tried to get in. My wife heard the commotion and was yelling at them to leave, which startled that someone was home, they ran. My wife called the police and then my work.

I raced home from work which is about 15 minutes away. By the time I got home, the police and already came and gone. I did a sweep of the neighborhood looking for these punks, but to no avail.

I decided to go to the precinct to do a follow up and with some additional info I obtained from neighbors. I went to the desk and talked to an officer (who was very helpful). He couldn’t find a written report of the incident with the incident number. He said it might have been entered into the database yet, so to come back. I came back the next day and still the officer who spoke to my wife did not write anything in the report.

The officer at the precinct told me that he would send the officer a note with my number to explain this. This officer thought it was strange that there was no report or notes in the burglary report.

To make a long story short, the officer who took my wife’s report never contacted me after several times I tried to contact this officer. Frustrated, I went to one of the community crime meetings held at the precinct.

It was there that I met (acting captain at the time) Lt. Davis. I told him my story and he seemed shocked at this, telling me he personally knew this officer and was surprised at their behavior. He then gave me this long speech about how we was going to personally look into this and “Get to the bottom of this immediately!”, as he put it. He said he would contact me within a couple of days. Well a couple of days passed. Nothing. So I went down to the precinct to speak with him. I was told he was busy, so I left a message for him to contact me with the results. Days past, nothing. So I went back down again to leave a message. Nothing. So I pulled out the card he gave me and left a phone message. Nothing. I left another one. Nothing.

So essentially, this guy played politics and blew smoke up my you know what, and did absolutely nothing about it. My guess is that this “outstanding officer” that he personally knew, dropped the ball big time, didn’t write up any report, so he had nothing good to tell me, so he ignored me and tried to sweep this under the rug.

Like the looks on those officers’ faces, I’m unimpressed too. Very unimpressed.

    Good news.
Those officers look like they have been working hard, wearing tired old shoes, and don’t like meetings.God bless them and their hard work.
Congratulations Captain Davis, from the 21st Street
people who don’t like meetings either.

Sorry, comment time is over.
