You can help! Students cleaning up Lincoln Park beach Saturday afternoon welcome community support

Chief Sealth International High School ninth-grader Jessica e-mailed to say she and a group of classmates plan a beach cleanup on Saturday afternoon, and that your help is welcome:

For my Language Arts class, we are working on ways to spread awareness about ocean plastic pollution. My group chose to pick up trash at the beach in Lincoln Park. We’ll be there on January 17th around 12 to 4 pm. … We’d love to get help and have the community get involved! We’ll be by the picnic shelter north of the bathrooms.

Sincerely,
Jessica, Alyssa, Hamdi, ZamZam, and Nathalie (Chief Sealth students)

There is already an organized clean up at Lincoln Park planned for the following day. Perhaps the high schoolers could join that.

Thanks – different type of event. Friends of Lincoln Park do restoration and invasive removal in the forest; the students’ effort is about picking up beach trash. Lots of TLC needed always at the beautiful park!

The Seattle Solidarity March for Lolita — marching in support of the captive orca, Lolita, and her family the endangered Southern Resident Killer Whales — will also be at Alki that day, and we would be happy to help in your efforts! Our event is from 1-3 p.m., but we will be up on the sidewalk so out of your way. I will invite our participants to come help with the clean-up before or after our march. So glad you are doing this!

Oops, sorry, just noticed this is at Lincoln Park, not Alki. But you have inspired me to ask people to clean up at Alki, too. Good luck and thanks again for doing this!

Sorry, comment time is over.
