HPAC has been working on this intersetion for at least 6 years. Either it really does not need it _or_ (more likely) the city refuses to listen.

If you read WSB regularly, you know a fair amount of local corridors are finally getting some attention for which local neighborhood advocates have long lobbied (35th, Roxbury, et al). An SDOT rep is scheduled to be on hand tonight, so it’s not just an internal discussion. – TR

WSB will you be covering the HPAC meeting? I don’t live in Highland Park but have to drive through there daily to get to work and am very interested in what SDOT plans to do to improve mobility there. I hate to say it but it always seems like there need to be multiple deaths in a given intersection before they bother to spend money on a traffic light much less road improvements a la 35th through High Point. Even this morning it was nuts at 9:00 way past commuting time as multiple cars were darting through the 7-11 parking lot and the other mini-mart/teriyaki parking lot while SFD was trying to back the firetruck back into the station. It’s a free-for-all around there.

Tricky, it’s on our plan for tonight but breaking news is always in danger of intervening, though we are always hopeful of a quiet night!

I live a block from that intersection so I hope we’ll see some action soon. (I’d attend the meeting, but I have the flu.)
