Update: 2nd SW call = not weapons-related after all

2:50 PM: Police and fire are responding to an “assault with weapons” call in the 9200 block of 2nd SW. Details as we get them.

3:03 PM: False alarm of sorts, according to police on scene and in media relations. Man who fell and hit his head first claimed he’d been shot – but hadn’t. He was injured badly enough to be taken to the hospital, though.

    …..and NOT West Seattle either!

Yes, Arrowhead Gardens is in West Seattle. Everything with the street direction SW is West Seattle, plus a S. street or two – in particular, Olson to the south of there.

Sorry….I stand corrected even though SW streets go all the way through White Center, Burien, and Normandy Park. There’s enough crime in the actual boundaries of West Seattle to talk about without bringing in all the surrounding areas.

Sorry, neglected to write what I thought was the obvious part regarding SW streets being in West Seattle, all that are “within Seattle city limits.” Of course there are SW streets in the areas you mention (as well as places outside King County, as we note every time we hear broadcast news mention “Southwest,” grabbing our attention briefly until we realize oh, not in our coverage area). – TR

Really Judy? Another boundary snob here?

Sorry to hear the man was hurt.

So TR of WSB does this mean you will not cover this area anymore?

We of Arrowhead Gardens GREATLY appreciate your coverage here when things happen. There are many things happening around here, almost on a weekly basis too, and we all have been reading YOUR coverage for many years on the blog.

Even if some don’t think this is WS area we need the coverage.

If possible, please don’t stop your great work of informing us in this area. We need you!

Thank you very much for all you do.

BT – what? I’m not the person who suggested your area isn’t West Seattle. We cover it and will continue to cover it because it’s West Seattle (and we cover the area beyond as well, to the south because we also have a White Center site, http://whitecenternow.com, and to the east because we also have a South Park site, http://thesouthparknews.com, though WS has to be our priority).

The “funny” thing here – which I was going to say in response to the person who thought the commenter might be a “boundary snob” – is that I used to have to explain this even before WSB; some people aren’t being snobby, they’re just confused.
      .
Somewhere in my last TV years (I left TV news in 2007) there was a fire at the nearby Public Storage facility, and I spent some time arguing with someone in the newsroom (who did not live in this area) to explain that the area IS West Seattle – they wanted to write “south Seattle.” (I used to also have to spend time explaining why Constellation Park is not “Alki Beach” but rather “south of Alki Point,” for what it’s worth.) – TR

Well just another confused person here I guess.

Whew, but so great to know you won’t give up on us over here :-)

    Thanks

Sorry, comment time is over.
