West Seattle holiday scene: Eastridge Church’s turkey tradition

Those are a few of the people who served the hundreds lining up along 39th SW this morning, giving the gifts Eastridge Church offers before Thanksgiving every year – turkeys and bags of groceries for holiday meals. This year, between their West Seattle and Issaquah campuses, Eastridge planned to give out 1,500 turkeys – that’s quite the logistical undertaking.

But it goes faster if you keep smiling.

It’s the 12th year Eastridge has given the pre-Thanksgiving gifts – no questions asked, no proof of need required.

THANK YOU REALLY SO VERY MUCH, Eastridge Church, for giving out these really very nice Thanksgiving meals — ESPECIALLY to so many people!!! This is the first year that I have come down to your church in West Seattle and received one of these really nice Thanksgiving meals from you and I’ve been living down here on Fauntleroy Way, S.W. and S.W. Edmunds Street for 15 years now. However, I am nearly a 100% housebound person and so I never get out much, anywhere. I wasn’t “into” or knew how to use computers, either, until more recently in my life. …I found out about your Thanksgiving meal give away on the internet this year, right here on the West Seattle Blog. Peace of Christ be with you all at Eastridge Church — and also with all of yours!!! And, again, THANK YOU REALLY SO VERY MUCH!!! HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL!!!

Sorry, comment time is over.
