From the ‘it was only a drill’ department

No, that was ****NOT**** a lockdown/shelter-in-place at Sealth – the school says it was a drill.

After the first few texts wondering what was going on, we contacted police, who said there was absolutely nothing in the area that would merit precautions. Then we finally reached the school, which confirmed it was only a drill, and was already over. But enough people have continued to message us that we thought we’d better mention it here, besides replying to them individually.

Text: “CSIHS Safety Alert: Safety Lockdown DRILL. Completed.” Thank you WSB, for being there to help people understand this clear and direct message…hope it didn’t take too much of your time!

I don’t know if everybody is on that list. I tried subscribing our hotline to it but apparently wasn’t approved as we’ve never received a message (would certainly be helpful as this did take a bit of time, including that of the police and school personnel who kindly answered our calls). Also, one of the reports we received came from someone in the vicinity who heard a loudspeaker announcement – they certainly wouldn’t have known. And others heard from their kids, who apparently didn’t get the “drill” message either (or didn’t understand it, or whatever).

I was in the school when it happened and on the speaker they said it wasn’t a drill.

I have to agree with Ana here, I am an 8th grader at Denny Middle School and the classroom was put into lockdown for around 20 minuets. The loudspeaker came on at around 1:30 -ish and I distinctly heard the words, and my teacher say that the lockdown “was not a drill” despite that, it seems that other classrooms weren’t affected, as some of my friends weren’t awear of the fact that it had ever happened. ~Isaac

Heard the same from my daughter too, that they announced it wasn’t a drill. Not ok in my book if that was the case…

All cleared up :) It was a sealth drill, our denny classrooms where next to sealth (as the schools are adjacent; and connected) so we heard the loudspeaker in sealth right next to us, not only did the anncouncment say “this is not a drill” but our teacher got no word of the drill because it wasn’t a denny drill.. confusing hunh? ~Isaac
