When Daylight Saving Time ends, so does some tennis-court lighting

Just in from Seattle Parks and Rec … the annual reminder that when Daylight Saving Time ends, so does the lighting at all but a handful of outdoor tennis courts, to save energy. We “fall back” early Sunday, November 2nd, and that’s the last night for lighting at most city-run outdoor courts. In West Seattle, the city has *one* outdoor tennis facility that’s lit year-round – the six courts at Solstice Park (7400 Fauntleroy Way SW). The other lights go back on after we “spring forward” into Daylight Saving Time next March.

Daylight Savings is moronic and we should stop doing it.

Who wants to join me, put a ballot initiative together and stop it once and for all?

The lights should be available for all courts all year round. Outdoor exercise is good. I know lots of WS residents that like to play tennis year round as long as it isn’t raining. It would be great if the Solstice Courts had the same lights as the courts up at Hiawatha…. Those are nice and bright.

Well, I was just wishing it weren’t the Solstice Park courts that had the year-round lighting–the glare from the court lights makes stargazing pretty hard there.

Love DST. Fortunately, its not going anywhere.

I would like to see the city get all the lights at LP fixed, even if only on part of the year.

Sorry, comment time is over.
