Two traffic alerts right now: First, according to scanner traffic, police are blocking off the Delridge Way onramps to the West Seattle Bridge because of a medic response on the bridge. That’s all we know so far. Also, @mjs1980 tweets that there’s a police car and tow truck with a vehicle on the uphill side of the Highland Park Way hill, so if you’re headed that way, be careful.
Underneath the Spokane Street viaduct, across from the steel mill, at 5:45 I saw two police cars responding to a crash. I was westbound. As I passed, I thought my eyes tricked me. What I saw was a blue sedan heading eastbound, but wedged under a larger car probably a SUV pointed northbound. I passed the scene quickly and then the columns blocked my view as they had in the beginning.
I saw this as well. It looked like it could have possibly been a jumper. I hope not!
I passed the seen just as police blocked the road, older model blue car wedged under a large truck. Driving slow i did seen the driver of the car, young male. Very scary seen, my heart dropped. For the sake of the family I won’t go into detail. As a father my heart goes out to the family.
We’ve received a photo from that crash but I’m not sure it’s the same one that blocked the ramps – that one was reported to be up on the bridge.
This one is different, and looked awful. You had multiple alerts here already. And I tried to pinpoint the location.
Spokane vs. Avalon. Did not get a major medical callout, though. I hope that means it wasn’t as bad as it looked.
I am so confused. what was the issue on the on ramp? it doesn’t sound like it was the car under truck accident?
It was dispatched a medical call, and that’s all I know. Won’t be able to follow up until Monday, when the Fire Department’s public-info officer is in and can look it up – details like that just aren’t publicly available.
What I saw was on east bound lower Spokane street just east if Avalon and west of the major intersection joining marginal way, Delrage, and lower Spokane.
thanks, whenever the time and direction coincides with someone I know (could have been one of my coworkers or my boss. If they’re not at work tomorrow, I guess I’ll know), I get nervous. Regardless, whomever it was, I hope they are ok.
Oh man, many disabled cars on highland park way all the time. Ppl trying to push their tanks and as soon as they hit that hill all the fuel goes to the back and… stall.
